Got the basement tanked and plaster-boarded last Easter then spent the summer putting down underlay, floorboards, skirting boards, doing the wiring and plumbing. Was quite satisfying really, i love a bit of a project.

By day it's the kids playroom but they have to tidy everything away and once they've gone down i've got a playstation, projector (onto the opposite newly painted wall), 7 piece surround sound, android box, corner sofa (that is also a double bed) and has the benefit of the fridge freezer in the room next door (basement has a couple of little rooms too).

It's nothing out of the ordinary (and sounds very similar to adz) but i love it.

Does it also have chains suspended from the ceiling?

2 years and stockholm syndrome will kick in.

I'll happily be locked down there with a stocked fridge, there's even a window to defecate out of if the need requires - not the most sophisticated but needs must, I wouldn't want to clog up the sump pump.

Got a radiator in down there, it's beneath the lounge and used to be damp (hence why we got it tanked) and the temperature difference in the sitting now is vast due to having a warm room beneath it. It's a decent size (12 by 17 foot) but low ceiling (7 foot -ish) so heats up quickly.

Mancave? I have a shed - it's choc full of all the crap I brought from my old house that I can;t find space for - I have a 3 bedroom house with 2 kids - not a massive house - no room for any mancave!

Although I am building my baby girl (she;s 5) a "little" (ok 5' x 5' x 5') playhouse out in my back gharden - completely built from scratch with zero experience doing it! Hanging the door this week so will put a piccy of that up when it's done

That looks great, fella. Cracking job <ok> Just curious as to what size insulation you are using for that?

Is that Penshaw monument in the background?

Holy ****, you built a whole row of houses behind your shed - respect, that is one hell of a mancave.

Yeh that's penshaw monument, quite a view at times. I am using loft insulation it's quite thick, I think it's 200mm

I have a recliner sofa, tv, dining table (for poker nights) my electrician is putting in an Ethernet cable for an android box as well, can't wait till it's done.

It's becoming time consuming to insulate and board
