    Gambles.

Colo has played there before, lack of options meant it again. Taylor has played right back and been our best player playing there on multiple occasions. Simmo has pace and is decent going forward and also would give defensive cover. Fair enough didn't work out but could have.

Sitting on the fence, so unlike the Tash, Hughton has nowt to do with anything the club has achieved since his sacking.

Hughton was to thank/blame(delete as you see fit) for our start.

Pardew is to thank for our season since.

    Pardew > Hughton

hughton got us wins over arsenal and everton at their grounds, and at goodison only 3 teams have won there all season. and arsenal is a hard place to go to.

the good draw with chelsea and the carling cup win, but we lost 7 games under hughton.

pardew in charge we go good wins over wolves, the 2 games vs birmingham 3 wins that we needed, a credible draw over man u, arsenal and we were 40 seconds away from beating spurs, 7 defeats,

but under both we lost 7 games, pardew got the 4-0 batting from stoke while hughton got the 5-1 hammering by bolton...

both with simular records really, so this battle over which has been the better one for us is nonsense really, both have played a big part in keeping us in the prem....

its just a shame we didnt get to see how far hughton could of taken us.

We had a particularly good start to the season for a change and when Hughton was given the push had
settled on 11th place in the table. Five months on and were safe but 12th but with no strikers to deliver
an end result. Under these circumstances Pardew and the last men standing deserve credit and continued
support whatever you may feel about some of them. This Summer isn't so much a make or brake point for
these guys (Pardew included) as that for the Fat Controller where he can put the money where it's urgently
needed or remain as is looking even more foolish.

As said above, this summer will really determine what Pardew has in his locker as manager.

I think he's done well, similar record to Hughton but remember he's had to do it without Carroll who, like him or not, scored goals for us. We'll see where we're headed after this summer though when we know who is staying/going.

    The Silver Fox!!!

All the negativity was due to how he was brought in, what with the way Hughton was dismissed, rather than at Pardew himself.
Pards had a very task to overcome, and I honestly felt sorry for him in those interviews following the AC saga.
I like him so far, but as everyone else has said, my mind will be fully made up after the summer.

Yeah, but he's the manager, he spends however many days a week training with them, you'd think he'd be trying it out and seeing how these things work.

But yeah my point is, when have his big tactical decisions worked?
