Hopefully Pardew will be banging on Ashley's door asking for cash in the January window. CB please Mike.

I second this. His Press Conferences would rival only those of Ollie.

Martinez for me, keeping Wigan in the league on their budget whilst also losing their best player every summer is a bigger achievement than City winning the league. Add to that the fact that he accomplishes this without compromising his "carpet football" philosophy and the achievement is even better.

He's also a very bold/brave manager, when they were in a rut last year he changed formation to 3-6-1/3-4-3 (whichever one you prefer to call it) and this helped them beat Arsenal away, Us at their place and Man Utd at home and they deserved all three victories.

He is the stand out candidate for me and I'd have installed by January if we still haven't seen any improvement from Pardew by then.

Martinez would be great, but he seems very loyal to Wigan

Yeah him and Whelan seem to have a very good relationship. I just genuinely think the bloke is a top class manager and a true gent on top of that.

He's like a Spanish version of "wor Bobby" as you Geordie lads would say <ok>

The thing I like about Martinez is he is always cleanly shaven. This means he is trustworthy and is not trying to hide something.

Me and Private established yesterday (scientifically of course), my late father was onto to something with regards to beards and them meaning someone was hiding something. Given the spanish penchant for a beard or at least a stupid soul patch or cum catcher, that is quite a show of restraint. I think he must be entirely honourable.

**** knows what my old man would have made of this movember malarkey.

If Katmandu is not available I'd take a punt on Gary Neville. Seems to know his stuff. You'd have to get someone in to help him with the flair players though <laugh> Gary Neville with Tino as his assistant.

You'd also need someone to help with his upper lip problem. Frequently just let's the damn thing grow... Might be hiding something the devious bastard!

Neville would play a reserve team against the other United.

    Not for me I'm afraid.

Nobby Solano then, proven in Peru which is a higher standard than the PL this season. He can bring that tall centre forward Machu Picchu with him, he'll suit Krul and Willo.

I'd go along with Nobby, at least his heart would be in it.

I don't think Martinez would leave Wigan for Newcastle - he wouldn't do the dirty on Whelan like that. Seeing as Whelan and Ashley loathe each other...

Good point. Another point would be about his signings... Let's make a list of his good ones:

    Kone...

Jordi Gomez, Hendry Thomas, Jason Scotland, James McCarthy, Antonio Amaya, Mohamed Diame (actually that last one isn't bad)

I like Martinez but fear he could be just a big fish in a little pond (not really I just wanted to use that cliche before anyone else)

I don't rate any of them except Diame... For the money a couple were good, but I think Jordi Gomez is awful. Is it just me?

Good ones: Victor Moses, Antonio Valencia (or was it Bruce?), Hugo Rodallega (I know he's a bit crap, but seems to be highly rated), Shaun Maloney (seems to have improved since being at Wigan), Ben Watson (a bit of an unsung hero), Franco Di Santo (also improved).

There's probably a few more, but it's all bit moot, isn't it?!

Think a lot of them are Brucey signings...

And no it is not moot, it's entirely germane to whatever point I'm trying to put across! <laugh>

    P.s
Awesome avatar WP. Now we can all redirect our anger (and springs) when things aren't going the way of NUFC!
