I was simply looking at players brought in to prove their worth and bring through the ranks if they're good enough. The word 'development' is the key isn't it? Seems like Monk doesn't have a great say in that part of the business and that's fine but you can rest assured he'll be deciding if they're ggod enough to step up. In fairness he's done so already.

By the way even players on the verge of retiring are young to me. <laugh>

they are the same age as my grandchildren <laugh>

The ones who have retired are young to me mate.

Nowhere, from the people concerned has it ever been said Laudrup didn't want Ki.

What Ki has said is he thought Laudrup wouldn't guarantee game time so he, KI, requested the move to get a better chance to impress his S. Korean selectors. That could be seen as poor team loyalty! Laudrup did publicly state he wanted Ki back in January but the loan contract had a bizarre recall clause of the end of Dec. Now, given Monk has indicated he doesn't do the buying (and doesn't even know the policy for signing development players or who they are) I'm inclined to believe Ki and Laudrup's version of events.

Not sure about Gylfi and Montero but Emnes was brought in when Laudrup was managing wasn't he? Certainly not a name Laudrup would have had in his 'phone book.

Huw has said they started 'discussions' with Gomis last summer.
These may have been the club's transfers or they may have been based on specific requests ... we don't know.

Fabianski was an inspired BUT opportunist acquisition more to do with Fabianski's agent than us. And has come on the understanding he is first choice goalkeeper (exit Vorm).

Fernandez was an excellent appointment but rushed - hence the price - and we are yet tot see if he's an improvement on Chico (or Amat). On the understanding he is replacing the transferred first choice CB.

Montero, Gomis, Fernandez and Barrow have said they came to Swansea as it was an opportunity to play in the Premier League and to some extent or other they say appreciated our style. Carroll has said the same and referred to Joe Allen as an example of what can happen for smaller players at Swansea.

Emnes was pleased to have a Prem contract and to be fair we are mostly glad to have him. Knew the club and Monk.
Gylfi preferred us to Palace but really wanted to stay at Spurs (interviews when Palace were interested). Also, knew the club and Monkl.

I believe most players who came in when Laudrup was here stated they wanted to play for him. So far only Gylfi and Emnes have mentioned Monk.

Is this Laudrup love in? No. It's using reference to support something nearer the truth.

Since Monk has been manager we have brought in decent but (apart from Siggy) untried players at PL level. We have also lost some very good, solid or inconsistent players.

Laudrup had an international reputation that players would have known. As yet Monk hasn't and it would be foolish to expect or think otherwise. He is very new as a manager and didn't have international standing as a player - he may in time reach the status of being able attracting players' interest on his name; but until that happens can we be a little more objective?

Utter nonsense, you will not give Monk any credit about the signings even when you among others stated he wouldn't be able to attract quality (others have at least admitted that they have been proved wrong and are happy with the signings), bottom line is, Monk has signed better players than Laudrup brought here, excluding Michu in his first season. As for Ki, Laudrup said what was the point in bringing him back just to sit on the bench. He had no intention in bringing Ki back or playing him, and look how he's laying now.
Oh and read the article fully, Monk has said he doesn't deal with the development squad transfers, nothing mentioned about first team transfers, but don't let that stop you from twisting quotes for your bitter argument towards Monk. We are doing very well in the league, played very well for 90 minutes against WBA, and I bet it's killing you that Monk is beginning to proves the doubters ( of which I was too to some degree) wrong. Others have mentioned this, but you continue to moan and whinge and post negativity all the time.
How about, for once, you give Monk and the board credit for what has happened on the transfer front and on the pitch, it won't kill you.

Well put <ok>

Bit rich from you valley considering you wouldnt give the last manager any credit for transfers, showing more than 1 face on the subject at best

I've given Laudrup credit for his first season and bringing in Michu and getting the best out of Routs. Look through my post history, I've also criticised Laudrup for our poor form last season. You however just make up your own little transfer stories <ok>

Bony came in under Laudrups reign , how many times have you said Bony wasnt Laudrups signing and then look at your #12 post on here .

But he wasn't. It's bloody obvious as he couldn't/wouldn't fit him into the team system and Bony only thrived when Michu got injured because ML was forced to change his game plan to accommodate Bony.

Nothing is 'killing' me. And I stand by my post. Nothing negative unless you are a Monk zealot.

As you seem to troll my posts you will know I have praised the team (why wouldn't I?) and posted very positive comment about Carroll, Jazz, Amat, Ash,Ki, Dyer, Routlede, Fabianski, Rangel, Bony, Bray and Gomis when, IMO, they deserved it; i.e. not after Villarreal or second half v Burnley (Oh my goodness how negative? Two of those players are Spanish!!!! and one was brought in by the board when Laudrup was here!!!) I will re-state if you want that I believe Taylor isn't up to the job and the excuses are wearing thin. Shelvey has not had a good start and should be dropped but we sometimes forget he's not long turned 22.

What is negative about stating we have some good signings, some improvement and some we don't know if they will work?

I happen to believe that until our new signings have proven their worth they haven't proven they are better than what we had last season. My opinions are formed from seeing players and reading what they have said not gazing a crystal ball, relying on other posters who pretend to be in the know or claiming them to be superior because Laudrup didn't bring them in.
Has Fernadez played in the league? No , so he's an unknown quantity, How many minutes has Montero played? Not many. Still an unknown quality. As is Gomis. And Carroll? Did well in the short spell he's had in the league. So, unknown quantity - looked good v Rotherham. So are they better than those they have replaced? We don't know.
What we do know is some players have come in and others (on most people's opinion in positions that really needed attention) didn't want to come anywhere near ... as is always the case, irrespective of how hard the board has tried, irrespective of who is manager.

If you think players are lining up to be signed by Garry Monk you are living in a parallel universe. Even Monk has said he's got a lot to learn and he's very new at the game. As I said, he may well gain that reputation but as a very new manager and he isn't there yet.

The rule is .. if a player is / was any good they weren't a Laudrup signing unless, they were good on the field but formed a clique in opposition to any other cliques formed by players who were being overlooked. Obviously any player who has been sold, swapped or released by St.G was crap. As was the manager who won our first ever senior trophy and got us to 9th in the league.
Monk is a fully formed supremo manager who is infallible (did you see the smoke rising when he was anointed sorry appointed?
Any player who has done well was a board or Monk signing.

It is obvious, absolutely true, that Bony wasn't signed when Laudrup was manager even though Laudrup was manager because Bony took time to settle in. He couldn't play in a system with Michu which is why he was a board signing.

Phew! Don't you know anything???

(My rant was not against Monk but those who worship the ground he stands on - he's making good progress has done some good stuff but still, as he himself says, has a lot to prove

Hey guys, I thinking of writing a letter to Brendan Rodgers thanking him for getting us Siggy this summer, I am also writing a letter to Michael Laudrup for convincing Ki to stay, whilst also helping us buy Montero, Gomis and hell why not Fernadez for good measure.

All I need is some dumb t**t's real name and photo along with any profile names on various forums and social media sites to put at the bottom of the letter before they are posted online and retweeted who knows how many times by Swans and other football club fans.

Any one wanna be that person?

Can we nominate?

with laudrup you have to look at his last 18 months and you will find your answer very easily why he was sacked.......you don't need to know anymore than that....welll justified sacking that would have happened at any other club much earlier.....

his last 18 months? He was only with us 18 months!

Sorry this is too easy and I can't resist.

Senior Cup, 9th in the league, Europa knock out stage, in the League cup and 12th in the league.

Bob, stop slagging the club off at every opportunity and I wont have to reply to your usual rhetoric.
Get behind Monk and the players, because God help you when we go through a bad spell under Monk. Monk has won 7 out of his last 8 in all competitions, keep that in mibd the next time you have a little dig at him.
