Managers, players, ambassadors trash talking the opposition

Well, you mentioned Fergie and Mourinho who have been trash talking about inferior teams for years so I'm just responding to your logic

 

Why is calling the Atletico team in '74 "scum" trash-talking?

Yes Fergie & Mourinho did it well, but I don't think they done it just to inferior teams.

In fact it was usually with Liverpool, Arsenal & Chelsea

 

Well both have had high levels of success throughout their careers so obviously trash talking is not the only factor... as per your argument above with my examples

 

So you're using a Man Utd player claiming about winning the league, a Chelsea player claiming to knock Liverpool out of CL, the Barca manager saying that Wilshere wont play well against them and a former German player talking about England playing crap football.

Do you think it was the trash talking that helped?

 

A. Yes, a tiny tiny tiny bit but it wasnt the only factor
