With all the changes in PL managers, how do you think Adkins leaving (don't panic...theoretically) would affect Cortese's plans for Southampton. Cortese and Adkins seem to be the perfect partnership in their desire to produce success by achieving perfection in every part of the club. The team have bought into the dream and work for each other. Cortese is obviously the more important of the two to keep, but is there another manager out there that you would be happy to have if forced to.

anything that managers say these days!

Rodgers said he was going nowhere - now wants to leave Swansea. Lambert was only three days ago totally outraged at any exit talk - now looks destined to go to Villa.

Only Martinez seems to be straight, being totally transparent about talking to Liverpool. All I can say is thank god we have Nigel!

Is all this just a sign of the instant media time we live in or does no-one have a sense of loyalty anymore?

I'd be lying if I said I knew much about Adkins before he came here but I'd be surprised if no one approached him before us after the job he did at scunny.
The way he conducted himself when he left Scunthorpe by insuring they got decent compensation and a replacement manager shows great commitment.
If he stays successful I see him here for a long time and only Liverpool or England would tempt him away eventually.

This is not a "will Adkins go" thread but a "what would happen if he did go thread". He would be crazy to go, there can't be a better run club with such good prospects anywhere. But if he did, would it affect us?

Well, short term, yes. I was listening to some of the Swansea players talking about the news on their manager leaving and they sounded quite depressed about the whole thing. If you have a manager talking about teamwork, loyalty, the Southampton way and so on and then he just ups and leaves, it would surely undermine the message.

That said, I would see it as a temporary blip, assuming that all the coaching staff don't leave with him. Some sort of continuity would be important. Then it would be down to Cortese to get the right replacement and I have every faith that he would.

I spoke to my Swans supporting friends on the 'phone last night and boy are they upset and worried. The rumour mill has been working overtime and they think they will end up with Holloway from Blackpool. If they do I think that will be good for them as he plays the same kind of game as Rodgers.

Think Southampton is an ideal job for Adkins as he is on the same wavelength as his Chairman and has the financial support he needs to carry out his plans. All depends on his continuing relationship with Nicola. As I cannot think of another manager I would want (now Rodgers has gone), I would guess we would get a foreign coach next time (though one that understands Scouse would be useful).
