Ossie...never managed in a top league after being sacked by us,
Francis...ditto...not sure he ever managed again
Gross...ditto...went back to swiss league
Bloke in a coat...ditto...ended his career
Hoddle...ditto...managed wolves in championship and nothing since
Pleat...ditto
Santini...no idea what the f**k he did
Jol...did well in holland...managed fulham
Ramos...caretaker jobs before ending up in some russian outpost
Redknapp...struggling with qpr
Avb...seemingly on his way to another rusdian outpost

Is this some kind of record?

More importantly who the f**k will want the job after sherwood is shafted by levy after a battering in Sundays NLD?
 
Someone will always want the job. We're a famous club with history and the fact sugar managed to bbring in Klinsmann even with being deducted six ppoints and out the cup at that time, shows you that we can entice great players or a manager to come even if for a season.

But sure the way we conduct ourselves, acting like Chelsea without substance means certain managers won't be interested but someone will see us as a challenge, it's not all doom and gloom.

Although if we sack Sherwood and have the embarrassment of spending 100 million, three managers in one season and two major flop signings, it won't help convince a manager that we're a club that makes good decisions and allows managers time to settle without hitting the panic button.
 
It will be interesting to see, if Van Gaal does get asked to manage us, what agreements he will demand from Levy. He is reportedly a strong character who brooks no interference with his role. If he can keep Levy in the background - where, incidentally, all chairman should be - then maybe he has a chance of succeeding.
 
Klinnsmann was 19 yrs ago!
Since him we have not signed a top name player at the high of his career....bale, berbatov, modric, carrick, lloris, etc all came with something to prove before being seen as great players.

My main point was that we must be seen by many good managers as a career damaging risk...think brendan rogers said as much when he confirmed he turned us down to join liverpool ...and events show him to be correct

The point is you're being over dramatic as we have been in far worse situations then this and found a way forward so while certain managers won't be interested, you can be sure there will be many that are and of a high standard.

It's likely to be an experienced head like Van Gaal which is what the club needs as the younger type of manager who needs more time won't work under Levy.

I can't see Van Gaal working under Levy either. With him, maybe. Under him, I don't think he would accept that.
 
Although I agree with the point re managers like Rodgers yet unfortunately that can't be helped now, we have had 12 managers in 18 years or something ridiculous like that, so we're stuck with certain limitations.

Enic need to drop season targets to a lower level otherwise if we continue to demand champions league football on the current budget then nothing will change.

I mentioned this before but Van Gaal wants to work in the premier league, he would likely take the job but could end in disaster but Redknapp worked with Levy and they clashed at times. It would depend on if Levy understands how Van Gaal operates.

But someone will be interested and no I don't mean Ian dowie! We're a good club for a manager to create something exciting even if we eventually get rid of them!

Was never suggesting that this is our worst situation...was simply making a point and asking a question.
As for levy chosing the right manager ... he got jol right by fluke and redknapp by chosing well...the rest from hoddle on have been terrible decisions and not just with the benefit of hindsight...I forgot to add pleat to the list too

Ok mate. Wires crossed. Just with all the recent comments you would think we're on the verge of going under!!


But I agree about Levy and the managers, it sends out the wrong message. We should have done what Newcastle done with Pardew and gave Redknapp a 10 year contract :p

In my time the near financial implosion of the club in1991 was the worst time...we were in a right state then...followed by being relegated in 1976....my second year of being a spur at the tender age of 9...then there was the years of being **** between 1978 and 1980...and the less said about life under gross the better...

Harry and a newcastle esque 10 year contract...maybe he would have head butted that manager from last night <laugh>

I enjoy the breeze from the open window, but unlike Redknapp I look away from the camera as his goes to sky sports news , mine goes to the speed camera and grinning with thumbs up probably wouldn't go down too well!
 
I suggested that pre avb but some fans pointed out tgat he dont want to leave america as he has a young family

Francis - went back to QPR, managed Bristol Rovers for a few months, hasn't been in management since (but was a coach at Stoke five years ago)
Gross - managed a big fish in the tiny Swiss Pond (Basel), averaged a year at Stuttgart and Young Boys
Bloke in a coat - says he's staying out of management due to arthritis
Hoddle - after a couple of years at Wolves, set up the Glenn Hoddle Academy
Pleat - has a much more comfortable position as the voice in Levy's ear
Santini - managed Auxerre for a season, fell out with their chairman, hasn't worked since
Jol - did a good job at Hamburg, great job at Ajax, took the Fulham job at the wrong time
Ramos - caretaker at Factitious (a Levy-esque appointment!), sacked by CSKA Moscow after 47 days(!), manages the #4 team in the Ukraine
Redknapp - didn't get the job he wanted (while managing us...), failed to keep QPR up and his heart isn't in that job
AVB - pretty much guaranteed he won't manage in the Premier League ever again
