quick thought about the possible lennon appointment. a massive influence at celtic over the years has been john park. he's been key in the excellent recruitment policy seen at parkhead. could it be that he is being lined up as technical director? i'm pretty sure he's been linked to that role elsewhere in the not too distant past. just throwing it out there for those concerned that negotiations are taking longer than they want. it might not just be one man we're after...
The players really stitched him up in that game. It was a disgrace to watch that game and 90% of the people on the pitch were not fit to wear the shirt.
I don't vouch for credibility but here it is: https://twitter.com/search?q=Neil Lennon in Riverside&src=typd Lennon spotted at Riverside.
So it's all quiet then! I must say I am excited and can't wait for news on who is going to (hopefully) take us forward. Not just up to the PL but also in style. Nothing doing though at the moment, beers on ice.
There's a rumor that the board are split on there choice... McNally wants Lennon and Delia wants Malky. Don't know how true it is.
Surely the club knew that the supporters had their lost patience during the January transfer window? If your going to make statement's that your going to have a manager sorted by the end of the week then stick to it.
If that's true it'll be Lennon. You don't pay someone £1.4m a year and then make their decisions anyway
I think Lennon's ambition is the think I find most exciting. Yes if we get anywhere with him he'll be off in a shot but as we've learnt before being involved, even for a short time, with that sort of ambition is very exciting.
Ambition is only any good if you know what you are doing. My opinion is that if things start to go pear shaped it could very quickly deteriorate with him in charge because shouting and screaming will only get you so far. The one really big positive from Lennon is that the side needs a higher intensity about the general play which had been programmed out by the previous regime. Higher intensity leads to better movement albeit it will probably be a bit headless.
I suspect another case of putting 2+2 together and getting a number around Ricky's transfer fee, but perhaps McNally wanting more football-know-how on the board is to try and dilute the influence that Delia has? If, if McNally feels that Delia's decisions (ie keeping Hughton and wanting Malky, etc) aren't always the best course of action, perhaps a new, football-savvy director would be more likely to agree with him, helping the "correct" decisions to be made, regardless of Delia's opinion. From what I can remember, our board is Delia, Michael Wyn-Jones, Bowkett, McNally, Foulger, Stephan Phillips, and Stephen Fry. 7 people. I suspect Fry is more there for the publicity he brings rather than to be involved with the day-to-day running of the club, so there could be six people actively involved. Delia and Michael may well stick together, and I could see Bowkett and McNally having similar thoughts, meaning Foulger and Phillips would have to both vote the same way to force something through. So I can make some kind of argument for it, how true it is remains to be seen!
