He lost, his team got hammered.

I suspect he'll be up there next season mind, his fist pumping and chest pounding will be infectious enough to the knuckle draggers to motivate them.

Even though this lad is getting pelters I don't think there's too much wrong with what he's said. Except that Klopp would be nowhere near for me... 8th? with Liverpool? Awful. It's the Premier League manager of the year, so Europa League shouldn't factor in. Even so, it's a piss pot competition, they faced three decent teams and could only beat two of them - he'd be way down on my list.

I agree with you for the most part but I know who I'd rather have at the helm heading into next season out of Allardyce and Guidolin.

Just 7 and 8 are wrong for me, 7 is highly debatable and 8 is clearly a wind up.

And that won't detract from what he's done this year in the slightest.

I'd take back to back relegations to league 1 if it came after winning the league and having a run in the champions league.

Why exactly do you think my post was inspired by any Newcastle vs sunderland animosity? Any why is it such a faux pas to post on another team's board? Sunderland fans are on the Newcastle board all the time.

My post was serious, the top 6 is difficult to argue with, and once you get past that in a list with a small number of possibilities, you're always going to have debatable choices. I put Klopp in 7th because he's done a decent, if unspectacular job, changing the way Liverpool play and getting them to 2 finals. And Guidolin has done a good job at Swansea, taking a team that were in freefall and turning them around and getting them comfortably safe.

How is 8 a wind up? He took a team in complete free fall (most on here were touting them for relegation) and completely and utterly turned them around. I'd be interested to see the stats of Sunderland vs. Swansea since he took over but I'm fairly confident they gained more points in that period than us. He did a better job than Allardyce imo...

It's like saying Wenger deserves it more because his stats are better than Allardyce's. There's a big difference in putting a steadying hand on the tiller of a struggling but high quality side and coming into a total mess of a club and turning it around completely.

    It's not all about stats.

    fixed.
4 players remain from SB's reign and only 1 of them played a major part in our survival this year. one other had a minor role and the other two were anonymous, not even bit-part players. <doh>

... think this is one of the funniest threads I've ever seen on Not606 <laugh> at first I thought the OP was being humourous ... but obviously not <laugh> Ranieri took over and did a 'routine' job? LMFAO ... :emoticon-0136-giggl

This is pretty typical of what most 'experts' predicted for us

    http://talksport.com/football/how-d...r-league-predictions-featuring-stan-collymore

Ranieri got his tactics spot on in just about every game ... even the 3 that we lost ... his substitutions and in-game tactical switches were superb from the first game against you boys right through to the end of the season ...

Reassuringly, most of you put the poor fooker right ...<applause>

It was posted entirely tongue in cheek, hence the hashtag. Bruce did sign some decent players but also signed alot of trash, as is often his way just when it seemed like he was doing a good job he tried to "take it to the next level" and failed to realise that paying twice as much for a player doesn't make him any better.

I'll reply to that one out of courtesy because you are a Foxes fan.

Fair enough you ended up winning the league at a canter and all credit. Without wishing to detract from thatr, the usual suspects did not perform at their highest levels and had bigger commitments. Be that as it may I will stand by my OP as I thought that Ranieri was handed the keys to a well running car and all he had to do was start it up. The team was basically the same as it had been for the previous two seasons, the back room staff had done a brilliant job in scouting and recruiting, hence he was given the keys to the kingdom by a team that had been together for some time which was an ideal situation for a new manager.

Not sure where your tactics and substitutions statement came from as I watched a good few of your games and your tactics never varied much, hence Vardy's goal haul. Not many of the substitutions were tactical changes, more through injury, if you can cast your mind back to the opening game of the season we absolutely murdered you in the first twenty minutes and should have scored two or three goals. Then two long ball clearances led to breakaway goals and that set the pattern for your season.

Finally, my analogy to our manager was based what both men inherited- yours a well serviced and prepared team, ours a bit of a banger that had to be serviced before it started to perform as it could and finally did itself justice.

Is it because I'm not a Leicester fan you didn't reply to me previously?

Still staggered how you're still beating this drum. You're about the only person in the world who is of this opinion.

Are you saying that if say, Allardyce, Moyes, or Pearson (if he was still in charge) would have done the same as Ranieri has?

As for tactics, if you look at the pattern of their season he basically changed from an almost 'gung-ho' attitude of "if you score 2 we'll score 3 to win" attitude to almost shutting up shop and winning eveything 1-0.

Even if a manager takes over at a top, top side it's a very difficult task to win the league over 38 games so to take over at a fairly average side and win it is nothing short of astounding.

As is your refusal to give due credit to Ranieri. I don't want to be rude but it's a massive blow to your credibility.

    1. Pearson played Vardy wide ...
    2. Drinkwater could not get a start
    3. Mahrez was not guaranteed a start
    4. Pearson played 5 across the back
    5. Pearson never had a plan B

... Ranieri has been absolutely brilliant .. swapped the full backs after the first defeat to Arsenal and we never looked back ... Pearson would have kept us up no doubt ... but barring the freak game at home to Man United we barely took a point against the big boys ... this season Arsenal aside we put them to the sword ...

Now I saw every game ...did you?

Nostalgic, you might need to take this one on the chin mate.

I think you're in a party of 1 on this subject.

Fair do's for holding your ground but I think the jury's packed up, switched the lights off and gone home.
