I think the best thing he could do is sign a contract here, guarantee 6 months first team football, and if in Jan we're struggling he can move on and we get a nice fee for him. Better than if he sits on a bench somewhere.

I have no doubt that his father is advising Diego. I hope he is telling him to put getting experience before getting rich at this stage of his career. Another season and 50 odd games with us in the Championship is just what Diego needs. Hopefully he will win POTY & that might influence him.
 
DP has always said that he does NOT want to play L1 football, why would he sign a contract when we were not safe from relegation? Diego is top Champ to mid Prem player at present, now we are safe I expect him to ask the owners what plans they have for next season and if he is happy to sign a new contract (WITH AN EXIT CLAUSE) ..... if he is not happy with the owners short term plans then I expect him to be offski and we would get @ £400,000 as a dev fee.
 
One of Murray latest mantra's was that we would be in a position to sit on our best players for longer now Roley's in charge, yet we find ourselves in the usual position of "can we can keep hold of".....
 
Not only that, where are we going to get new players from? If JR gets the job he can't have any targets in mind in the English game because he's a stranger to it. We have many players who are surplus to requirements and if we are also going to lose our best players as well who do we rely on to find the right replacements? The Fantastic European Scouting Network (yes we all know) or our domestic scouting network who recommended Tudgay, Petrucci and Obika?
