99% of fans from other clubs know there is big club bias in refereeing because we see it time after time. The other 1% are refs.

VAR will only count for some decisions, so it will only be able to clarify stuff the ref feels the need to look at. What if the ref just doesn't feel the need to check? Like today, he didn't flinch once he saw the colour of the shirt! <laugh>

Sorry Tom, it isn’t bollock. Time and time again, referees gives more close decisions to the big teams when playing small teams.

You are just being protective because you are a referee.

    Oh Tom.

Watford v Saints - no big team bias
Spurs v Arsenal - two of the top twams, not a big side v a small side.

Over the years, it has happened time and time again. There are mistakes made, but what I and I expect others are talking about is not the mistake, but mistakes made under pressure of a big club involved.

We can take a lot from JWP scoring yet again...I know Valery scored as well, but we don't know how often that will happen, but James is turning into quite a little goal machine.

Yes and quite rightly, var has shown nothing so far except waste a lot of time, and moved the talking points on about five bloody minutes.

Just watched MOTD and how we weren’t given those penalties I don’t know. They should have had one too.

First one was nailed on, was clear as day even from the other end of the ground.

Just not at the Stretford End as Tom agrees <whistle>

And VAR would probably be used mainly for penalties awarded and not for those not given. If a penalty isn't given, the game moves on....certainly don't want a situation where players protesting causes the game to stop so they may regain an advantage. And I don't care whether that favours us or not. It's the road to hell.

I'm pretty sure I've already seen players pressure refs into reviewing something.

I felt he was playing for that one, would have been fuming if given against us.

The sad thing is that in the future fans will be so used to all this stop-start that they won't know any different...and we will all be old fogeys sitting in the corner trying to tell them what football was like in the day. VAR isn't fit for purpose and needs to be used sparingly.

Incorrect. If a pen isn't given the VAR official will check it out and will bring it to the referee's attention who will stop the game and watch the incident on the monitor.

Then why have things still been missed then.

If that's the case then surely no penalty would ever get missed?

Then God help us all. A penalty isn't given, a player gets away or feeds the ball up field and then it all stops for the ref to check his monitor. What if the ref decides that it still isn't a penalty...any advantage is lost. And because he has been asked to look at the monitor it will take a strong-minded ref to stick by his earlier opinion. There will be blatant penalties given correctly, but many are matters of opinion. And let's not forget how bad video evidence can look. No one should kid themselves that in its present iteration VAR will improve the game...there will be a few mistakes corrected at the price of stop-starting the game.
