Just chatting to a mate of mine who is United fan and he said there was a lot of things that didn’t go their way too. What more did they want, a three goal headstart, 15 minutes added on?
I don’t know, I wasn’t at the game, but everyone on here said how good we were, Sky said how good we were, even the MOTD commentator said how impressive we were...just seemed that there may have been highlights if ours not used. I’ll bow to your knowledge if you saw the game, I had just expected more based on all the opinions I heard/read
Because all evidence so far shows that decisions using VAR are as subjective, controversial and plain wrong as any other decision. You can’t possibly say with certainty what VAR would or wouldn’t allow.
Well I'm genuinely not too disappointed with the late goal, cracking game of football with some wonderful goals and thought we were brilliant and would have been good value for a point. Love OT as well, lives up to the hype imo. Good view from the away end and can make a lot of noise with the low roof too. Shame tourists end up in the away end as well though. Thought first Bertrand one was a pen but a bit lucky to not pick up a second yellow for the second one. Ref was generally awful though and it's mainly all the small decisions etc. I'm sure he almost gave them the free kick at first for Prowsey's goal. Also does anyone else think the 5 minutes was decided before that goal? Doubt we'll see another two goals like that in the same match at OT... great day out. Roll on the Spuds, utfs
Just seen us on MOTD which was the first I’d seen of the game. We definitely deserved something out of that, 2 pens and Lukaku’s first disallowed and it’s 4-2 to us. Oh well, can’t expect a ref to give us anything at OT but a great performance by us. If we play that well against Spuds we’ll get at least a point. Onwards and upwards.
I know people will disagree but I think if you're gonna disallow goals for that then we may as well pack up and go home. He's not gained any real advantage and it's not what the rule was brought in for.
Look I understand that as a referee you don’t agree and I respect the job that you and your colleagues do. But this bias (subtle some years, others not) has been going on for ages. All you have to do is look at the number of offside goals and non penalties that Liverpool have got this season. What about that penalty arsenal got in the first games under Puel in the last few minutes when there was clearly a head injury and was a dive anyway. The Gabbiadini goal in the EFL cup final that was wrongly disallowed. Sterling’s goal last season for City about 1 1/2 minutes after added time? I’m sure I could think of many more and that’s not even looking into other teams.
I called Prowsie's free kick. As he was lining it up I said it was going in the top corner. Shame about Lukaku's winner but as you said it was a great day out.
Anyway that’s the last I’m going to vent about the officials. It was a top performance from us today and there are many many positives to take forward for the rest of the season. Boys can take a lot of heart and if that’s how Ralph has us playing until FT against Huddersfield, we will be more than fine.
I did the opposite, it's the only time I haven't got myself really hyped up for it What a ****ing beauty... great celebration too. Won't forget that.
That's a different subject though. You're talking about the operation of the offside law. And on that, I'm completely with you. I would personally go back to the 'clear daylight' rule. Having your half of the big toe in front of the last defender really should not be offside. But with the rule as it is, it shouldn't have been a goal. Just like Kane could have been offside for the Spurs penalty.
What about Watford's handball goal? The penalty Spurs were awarded today? Bad decisions happen all the time, not always in favour of bigger clubs.
Yeah I do agree and dunno why I posted that really, don't really want a var debate or anything. I always thought that you gave 'benefit of the doubt' to the attacker, but don't know if it's ever been an actual instruction to officials or anything.
No but for that first one today most people would agree that it's a pen and you simply don't/won't get those given as a small away club at the Stretford End early in the game. Would need to be completely stonewall.
