Do you think 5 subs negates some of the advantage of playing against 10 men? Fatigue seems like less of an issue.
Good competitive first half. The Casemiro red gives us a great opportunity. We must not lose this now.
Well that was fun. I’d take Theo off at HT, he’s not at the races today. Played well though as a team, front foot and aggressive indeed.
Lovely. A good half by us. Interested to see what Ruben tweaks and if we can overload some areas now.
Played really well even before the red card. This is a huge opportunity as not only are they down to 10, but their only good midfielder is now out. We really need to take a point from this now.
Bit scary how regularly we lose possession in the middle of the park off dodgy passes or just straight up playing ourselves into pressure. I fear that if United are going to score off a counter, it's going to come from that.
Utd is probably the right team to be playing in these circumstances, if we want to go for the win (rather than being content with a found point). They really don't have anything to lose...they're about as nailed on for 3rd/4th as a team can be at this point, so they're going to keep playing to win. And that means there will be space.
As a standalone match, a point at OT is always a good result, even against 10 men. I couldn't be disappointed at a 0-0 at OT. But I don't have any belief that we'll stay up, and one of the main reasons for that is the fact that we've gone over a year since winning two games in a row (or taking a two goal lead in a game). We need to overcome that hurdle before I even contemplate the possibility that we might survive. Well here is a chance to do that.
Yep without VAR I would have said the same. Now whether we like it or not, they get to see it a few times, and it was dangerous. Just like that was never a handball that they were moaning about.
So was Paul signed solely for Jones’ system? Seems a massive waste if we signed a striker we’re not going to use. Edozie on for Walcott?
Really impressed by Alcaraz again today. Following up his winning goal with a top performance at old trafford. Looks like he could become some player.
Admittedly VAR tackles always look way worse in slow-motion. Similar thing happened to us when JWP got a red against Chelsea.
