It was our stewards confiscating them, not theirs.

Did they get a receipt & told where to collect them from afterwards?

Confiscating & stealing are different concepts.

<laugh> I'm pretty sure he'll have quoted them the ground regulations word for word.

I'm completely flabbergasted that OT lets other clubs' stewards come in and enforce the away club "rules" in OT. Or maybe I'm naive and it happens all the time - do we offer the same "courtesy" to clubs visiting the KCOM?

And by rules, I mean petty-minded, thin-skinned sulking.

Given that "our" stewards are provided by an agency and seem to change from match to match for home games, why would Man Utd be employing them to monitor the away turnstile?

I'm surprised that none of these protest banners have made their way into Viccy square this week.

Some are agency workers and some are directly employed by the SMC and Man United won't have employed them, we will.

    That's incredible.

I too would like to know on what grounds they were confiscated. Surely they can't just demand you hand over any item they want you to hand over without good reason. Are banners (non obscene/tasteless ones I mean) against ground rules?

They use the Regulation 1.1.2 (constituting a source of nuisance or annoyance to any other person) bollocks, as they did with Johnny Oxley, something I plan to challenge them on at the next SAG meeting.

On that basis you could request a ban on ****ing owt. Its mental.

I must confess, I tend not to pay much attention to stewards, especially away, but I never realised we took our own with us. I always assumed they were the club we were playing at.

Is this standard across the leagues?

I don't think we do it normally, maybe it was just because it was a big televised game and they didn't want us nasty fans protesting.

It's not the first time we've done it though, we had our stewards at our Europa League away games.

The stewarding/policing at Man U is professional and rigorous, in line with what you would expect from a huge money-making enterprise. They've had decades of full houses and excitable fans.
At the KC we have amateurish policing and stewarding, as is proved on almost fortnightly basis. It's a cash cow for Humberside Police and the stewarding agencies who supply labour.

So is it as a result of a request from our club to provide them, or the enemy club?

I do sorta get the Europa away games, locals might not speak great English, or understand our awesome accents if they do, but in England seems a bit puzzling.

Sorry if you don't know btw, you seem to have a bit of an insight due to the SAG etc, and I'm genuinely curious about this.

I suspect it was entirely down to us, but I don't really know, I'll try and find out next month.
