Swarbs said that Bale would only go to Madrid because Spurs would rather sell to them than you. Can't be arsed to find the post but I'm sure he'll be a man and admit it!! Now where's my pint you swine!!

Rooney hasn't openly said he wants to leave but Fergie said he handed in a 2nd request and he's hardly come out and pledged himself to the cause either has he? I think you can read between the lines on that one.

    Suarez....agreed!

I'm not sure. These things tend to rumble on to the last few days of the window.

Barca are after Luiz supposedly- if they get him then they may be more inclined to sell Febregras ?

Real are after Bale - hopefully/ please god / wishful thinking - Real then sell us Ronaldo ?

If we signed any of the above then Rooney will probably go to Chelsea ?

I think this window is just waiting for one big signing to kick it all off but it's just a case of waiting for the big signing.

i honestly don''t get your point
as far as i know is only Real who seem to made an offer !! so is not like he rejected us ?!!
i can see your point if UTD & Real had both made an offer and he chosen Real , but atm is only Real
in all honesty, if he will get same wages, UTD is as big temptation as Real if not more for reasons Swarbs mentioned
you disagree, then only way to prove it is when both clubs make same wages offer and he pick Real instead

there are plenty of reasons why he can choose Real and many others more why he can choose UTD

I must have missed the bit where that says 'why would he go to Madrid', care to highlight it for me.

Or are you just, as ususal, using poetic licence to twist what someone has said to try to make it look like what you'd like it to say?

Yeah but why would Bale want to go to Madrid? Surely he'd prefer to go to Crawley Town ;).

Oh go on...if I have to...

It's called inference. If you list a few reasons why he'd go to United but then state the big lure of madrid is merely that Spurs will sell to them, it implies there is no reason (or lure) for the player himself to go there.

Agreed but that wasn't what was inferred in your Mods post, hence my (mildly) smart arse reply. Just a bit of banter, don't read too much into it.

It doesn't at all imply that. It suggests there are some reasons why he might not but it absolutley doesn't infer that there is no reason for him to go there.

Staight out if the DL textbook af total bull**** there mate.

No one was suggesting he wouldn't want to go there, course he would it's Real Madrid for ****'s sake, what was suggested at the time was just because Real came in it wasn't an absolute given that he would go there, which of course isn't the case if he doesn't actually feel like moving to Madrid and there was an alternative.

Aside from staying at Spurs there is now no alternative though because he isn't worth anywhere near that money so I would hope to God United don't think about matching it.

If he goes to Real for that kind of money I reckon he'll be available for half of that amount in a couple of years when he's lost his place to whichever marquee signing Madrid make that summer.

    Agree to disagree I think.

Agree re the value though, it's mental and probably a reaction to Neymar going to Barca / the worry Ronaldo won't sign a new contract. As good as Bale was last year, most expensive signing ever is crazy especially when they will be buying from a non rival.

Fair enough, but I honestly doubt that Swarbs would say anything so stupid as that which is why I would defend him to be honest. Nor did I say that.

I still maintain if it were a level playing field and the fee was say £50 million and United were also in for him it is not certain he would choose Real over us, which seems the blase argument of most non United posters on this forum.

Anyway, we can't/won't/shouldn't afford that so it's irrelevant now. No way is he worth that, as much as I think he is excellent and would fit in nicely at United.

I agree. I personally think there is more kudos playing for Madrid but I could easily see him picking United for various other reasons.

However I could see Real paying 70, 80 million for Bale, but I just can't see United paying them sort of figures - and too right.

So is the Fabregas saga finally over? Anyway (on a sour grape note), Cesc's arrival would have meant end of Cleverly's United career. Not a big fan of the latter, but he does deserve one more season. Let's sign Fellaini and one good defender, any position, and end all this nonsense.

No I didn't. I pointed out that there are just as many good reasons for a British player to choose Utd as there are for a British player to pick Madrid. Bale's preference is likely to depend on how much value he places on staying settled in the UK, avoiding disrupting his family, language etc, versus how much he wants a new challenge overseas, the lifestyle, climate, glamour etc.

My last point was simply acknowledging the facts of the situation. Spurs have shown they are more likely to sell overseas than in the PL, as with Modric. It's by no means the only factor, but assuming Bale wants a move and would be happy with either Madrid or Utd, he will almost certainly find it much easier to force a move to Madrid. Which would probably be the biggest factor if Levy is playing awkward, as he appears to be at the moment.

Don't remember you listing all the reasons why the player might want to play for Madrid i.e presenting a balanced argument. <whistle>

why he should list them? he was talking about the points that make UTD a better attractive destination over Real ..strong points in favor of him joining Real are obvious tbh
