    Good riposte.
Oh dear what? You think the all time PL side should consist of solely United players? Bullshit.

Perhaps Scholes/Neville, but the rest? Nah. For a start, Stam was better than Rio. Cole is the best LB in the Premier League era, Giggs is up there but prefer Pires although fair play to Giggs for putting out this long, and Henry is the best striker the league has seen.

No one holds a candle to Irwin at left back, not even close.

And Pires better than Giggs? That's just utter rubbish quite frankly.

Not picking Scholes for a PL XI is laughable. That was what the "oh dear" comment was for and all that your post deserved. I know, he's no Lampard but the kid could play a bit.

Ruff is right about Irwin. Possibly a bit before your time though.

He was ****e but he probably holds a special place in the hearts of Chelsea fans as he led out the team that got a guard of honour at Stamford Bridge, closely followed by Kieran Lee and DONG.

I have taken back the Scholes comment although in an all time 11 I'd have Lampard.

No I saw him, hence why I picked him. No way he was better than Cole in his pomp. We'll have to agree to disagree.

Those two probably depend on whether you value consistency or top form. I agree that Cole and Pires at their absolute best were better than Irwin and Giggs, tho' not massively better. But they were at their absolute best for three, maybe four years tops, whereas Irwin and Giggs maintained their top level for over a decade

No way Pires better than Giggs though an excellent player. Cole as much as I detest some of his antics is a top player. However again due to attitude, consistency, cost, longevity, versatility and confidence (remember that penalty against Southampton and his free kicks); it has to be Irwin every time. Legend.

Also takes no crap from Arsenal players :emoticon-0105-wink:

    Schmeichel
    G Neville
    Stam
    Vidic
    Irwin
    Ronaldo
    Keane
    Scholes
    Giggs
    Yorke
    Cole

Strikers are difficult to pick but I would go with Yorke and Cole for their partnership rather than their individual ability.

  16. The Giggs debate comes down to how you're looking at it. Giggs as been great for a very long time and has a bigger medal collection than any other player but at no point was he near being one of the best in the world either. Are you picking based on entire careers or a player at their peak?

Given Mano said "all time prem XI", I'd say it's entire careers. Ultimately, what would you rather have, a great player for 20 seasons, or a slightly better one for three seasons?

Oh, and Pires was also at no point near being one of the best in the world either <ok>

Sadly I haven't been able to find a place for Clayton Blackmore. A cruel omission. :emoticon-0100-smile

    GK: Schmeichel

    RB: G.Neville
    CB: Ferdinand
    CB: Stam
    LB: Irwin

    RM: Ronaldo
    CM: Keane
    CM: Scholes
    LM: Giggs

    CF: Cantona
    CF: Van Nistelrooy

It was a close call between Vidic and Stam to partner Rio in the centre of defence and so nearly went with Vidic, but Stam was a brick wall for most of the 3 seasons he was at Old Trafford. The rest of the team largely picks itself. If I was have 7 subs on the bench like the typical matchday squads do now then my 7 would be Van Der Sar, Vidic, Evra, Beckham, Robson, Rooney and Cole.
