Having watched it all back now my favourite moment of the entire game is Maguire's deliciously sour grapes interview at the end. Each nugget of bitterness was tastier than the last 'wah, nothing to play for... No pressure....blub, can't get relegated...'. Each time I watch it and think I'm full, it turns out I'm not and I can eat more of it up. Great stuff.
That was a red. He went in late and studded him above the ankle. Sorry but those two scenarios were completely different.
I thought Ole's interview with Sky was excellent. It's a shame that more managers (I'm looking at you, Jose) aren't more like it. We were very fortunate with Romeu, and sadly I thought Che was dreadful, but we were well worthy of a point. It's not unrealistic to think we could finish this season on a seven match unbeaten run.
Then we will agree to disagree, neither player looking....and studs in contact with another player .....both either red or no red. If the Villa one was on a Utd player Gary would have said it’s a red.
There's no consistency. Its all subjective. Every bodies opinion is equally valid. The var monitor people guess as much as people down the pub.
In the Villa game, you can see from that image that Fernandes did not put his weight behind his foot. Because he was jumping to avoid the Villa player's challenge. He fouled the Villa player, but not a red. Romeu went in with much more force and it was just a nasty challenge.
Rom was pulling out. The reaction made it look far worse. Any intent and Greenwood wouldn't have got up.
I'm sorry but no. If an opposing player had done that on a Saints player everyone would be screaming red card. Romeu could have pulled out of that.
Reading on here and on other sites the Romeu red or no red, has split opinion 50/50. I am firmly in the no red camp .....ref didn’t even think it was a yellow.
If it was a red, Mason would have been badly hurt. It was clumsy, with no intent. But I won't keep banging the drum now. VAR earned its corn. And a shout out to eagle eyed a/r Sian with Rashfords offside. No hesitation. No check. Called it.
Just because he wasn't injured it doesn't mean it wasn't a bad challenge. Valery was fine after the Andone challenge and that was a shocker.
Was Valery injured after the Andone challenge? No. Was it a red card anyway? 100%. Same scenario here.
