you only have 10 games left. Winning 8 out of 10 would be a big ask given your fixtures and even then might not be enough.
I don't think Liverpool will win the league but i would'nt rule them out as much as it pains me to say.
Yes that's what I said we have to beat them both, I also agree about Chelsea if they are still ahead of us then Mourinho will come and park that bus knowing that a draw would be useless to us.
That is very tough and even then it's still out of your hands. Liverpool have done great and I am watching their results for the first time in a while but realistically I just can't see it. A team and manager with no experience of a title run in, a leaky back 4 and tough fixtures.
They all said we'd park against City and we out played them on their own patch. Never second guess the special one...
Liverpool could lose half their remaining games. ( the 4 tough ones and one of the others isnt too unlikely). Would the lfc fans consider that a disaster?
City have the more difficult run in and you lot the easiest, we need an unexpected loss for you somewhere along the way for us to have a chance of the Anfield result being important.
Don't know why I put eleven But yes, massive ask and I can't see it happening. I've said continuously that we need to secure fourth and go from there. We've just won four in a row, remain unbeaten over the next four (assuming we beat Cardiff and Sunderland) and we'll be more or less there.
As long as we hang on to fourth then it's no disaster and with the games that the teams around us have points will be dropped by them even if we lose some.
I guess that would depend on what other teams do. If you offered us that now but still secure a top four finish, most of us would take it. challenging for fourth was the aim at the start of the year and that is where it should remain. Sure, if we can do better then fantastic but I'm keeping my feet firmly on the ground. I'll be ecstatic with fourth! I don't think we will lose all four of those big games BTW. Not saying we'll win them all, far from it as I sincerely doubt we will. Given the choice, I'd be happy with beating Tottenham and drawing with you guys. PS...it's not 8 in 9 games (assuming you beat us of course), our goal difference is worth a ninth point
I agree he can surprise at times but if it comes to it he'll know that a draw will be enough and will set up a defensive formation.
Dropping 15 points would cost you 4th imo. I doubt it will happen however, its not exactly unlikely. Some tough tough games ahead against sides all capable ( or sides that already have) beaten you this season. As for staying in the top 4 beyond just a single season, I have very strong doubts. You have taken advantage of poor form, major changes and other thing affecting other clubs. Cant fault liverpool for that. In reality though you are well above your station. 6/7th is where I would put you guys if every side was at their best. I dont see the premier league continuing to plod along as poorly as it has been doing.
True, 9 in 9 then. Say you lost 5 of your remaining 10, including the game v us, what does that leave you on?
The top three order I mentioned was just how I think it will finish, it'll be close and all three can do it. To say it's in Liverpool's own hands is obvious but if they beat their direct opponents for the title, plus us, then they'll take some stopping. I'm pretty sure that in a couple of days time City will only have the league to play for so it might well be that they settle down and win it. At the same time there seems to be a slight sense of chaos there at the moment and they might not recover if they get dicked again by Barca. Which is why I make Chelsea favourites. They also happen to have a been there done it bloke in charge. The other two most definitely don't.
It is probably no surprise that I disagree with all of that, the Chelsea and City squads are very good and have played well all season as have Arsenal until recently the league hasn't plodded it's been a really exciting season so far, the only real change is you lot being so bad. As far as us maintaining our form next season I see no reason to doubt that as we have a young squad full of players that will get better. Yes we will have to spend wisely but it's not numbers we need it's quality in key areas and the quality of our younger players have made that possible.
Assuming we won the other five, it would be 74pts. We've been aiming for 76pts (2pts per game average) all season which would be enough for CL in most seasons. As I said, it depends what other teams do.
Their remaining fixtures are the easiest by far especially if they turn over Arsenal and with it being at home I don't see anything other than that happening.
Even though I think Jose's favourites tag is complete BS (who prefers games in hand to point ), I think Man City are the ones to stop. Of course, Arsenal and ourselves could have a big say in the fight between Man City and Chelsea since we both have to play both. Edit: just looked at the fixtures. Man City have to visit Anfield, Old Trafford, the Emirates and Goodison Park. Ouch! chelsea have to go to Anfield and the Emirates.
