Midfield was definitely poor - I will say that Ralls for that last 15 minutes made a difference and I'm not his biggest fan. Gunnar and Arter had their worse games and both at the same time. Camarasa is class and I felt sorry for him - he tried so hard to cover everyone else that it left him no chance to create anything. Zohore on for Arter was a no brainer and the big man did give us an option up front - looked up for it. Bamba cost us 2 of the goals with his "Beckenbauer" stuff. He comes charging out of the back 4 and commits himself - I like his enthusiasm but it cost us last night. Warnock has stressed the basic stuff - get the ball and get rid of it, let others dribble the ball and beat players on the ground. The rest of the back 4 were slow and lacking in skills. Morrison is solid but has no pace at all and Manga was shocking - probably the best of the back line was Cunningham and I never thought I'd say that. Paterson ploughed a lone furrow and is commited if not particularly talented - outside him Murphy and Hoilett offered nothing. What to do? Warnock has got to get this 5 man midfield idea out of his head. Zohore and Reid to start with Patterson back coming through from midfield like last season. Who else should be in there? Camarasa for sure but the rest is up for grabs.
Can anyone see us picking up a point over the 4 Xmas games? Remember last season’s Xmas 4 game points tally
our boys were fking shi.te yesterday but yeah I got the feeling we can pick up some points..........if not.......that's the way the cookie crumbles im afraid.....im good with that and all..........meaning im used 2 buying broken biscuits
We need to change the Gunnar long throws, every time they go to Morro at the front post. Teams know this and put 2 defenders on him, they say a change is as good as a rest. time to rest the long throws.
Maybe time to rest Gunnar as well - he looked knackered last night. And don't give me any more bloody tips either.......... Can we also please abandon this "5 in the middle" tactic - it just doesn't work. The Man U back 4 just walked the ball out to halfway last night when they had it, and were never put under any pressure when we had it - not that that was very often. Press higher and give defenders something to worry about, especially at home for goodness sake. I said it on another thread - we should tear up the Warnock tactic book at Palace and go for it with Zohore and Reid up front with Pato coming from midfield. Who you leave out to achieve that - I have no idea but something's got to change.
Sorry to sound like a stuck record, but 4231 seems the most suitable for our predicament. Gives the defence some protection, with the opportunity to get someone in support of the front man. originally thought Gunnar and Arter with Camarasa off Paterson with 2 wider players. Maybe we should think Patterson and Camarasa in front of the back 4 with Murphy, Reid and NML behind Zohore. All sorts of permutations, but it needs to be different from our current lineups. Just hope we line a bit more attacking away from home next game. With only a point to show away from home, 424 wouldn't be any worse!!!!
Regardless Remote I still think we’re going to get ****ed up at Palarse on Boxing Day. Out away record speaks for itself and I doubt Warnock will change that in the next couple of days!
No sane person would bet on anything other than a Palace win. Or a Leicester and Tottenham win either 2nd miserable City Xmas on the spin beckons
