Cheating barstewards playing as strong a side as possible. Also conned the ref and linesman with the second goal which should have been given offside. Possibly the first time I have agreed with Michael Owen.

Agree with you about the second goal KDS - the sole intention of their wall running back is to distract the goalkeeper hence they must be active and offside. Apart from that what should have been an enjoyable evening (even if it ended in defeat) for us was a deeply depressing experience. We had no ambition to try and cause them any problems and parking the bus behind the ball does not work if you give players of the class of Mata so much room to play. On the few occasions we did have the ball our passing was very poor as was the delivery into the box. The couple of chances we had at the end showed what was possible if we had been able to get forward more. Personally I would have taken a 6-0 drubbing if we had tried to attack more - I just cannot understand MM's tactics against a side with such quality players. These tactics condemned us to certain defeat before half time.

I, actually, thought the tactics were right. Our players lacked the ability to apply them. On the all too few occasions the front three were given the ball to feet, they showed that we could run at and beat a player. We were forced to go 4-4-2 after the break as a result of the second goal which was crucial to the game. The resultant formation showed little, if any, improvement and was only effective when they were reduced to ten men. We were outclassed through brilliant passing and movement and our only hope was how we played it. The system employed last night will keep us in League One.

I thought Brown did some good work. Grimmer was a good outlet of the ball and Whalley also looked a slight threat. Black kept on signalling to players to press forwards and form a midfield, but it looked bad when we had a 1-9-1 formation.

I hope you are right about the system KDS - I am just a bit worried that the disappointing performance on Monday will have a knock-on effect, especially at home. Anyway I will be at Colchester on Saturday to lend my voice to what I hope will be the start of a climb up the table. There is still everything to play for.
