The thing with conspiracy nuts is you could take them back in time and show them the Kennedy assassination, the moon landing etc. and they still wouldn't be convinced. I'm sure his money will be safe.
What I don't understand is, if it was fake, wouldn't at least one person from the town not have said it didn't happen?
