Looks like the balance of the squad is hugely improved with individual quality a step up on last season. Mutch sounds like the player with the steel we've needed to allow us to go 442 with Whits in the middle. HH and Smith give the bite and grunt to allow Maynard, Bellamy and Noone to strut their stuff. Not only that, but we have the depth to cover injuries (provided it's not at full back). We've not even seen KimBo yet!!!! How does that £2M fit in. We could end up with two £2M players and Bellamy on the bench (or another £1M player in Noone). Not sure what to make of the Cowie for Maynard replacement though. Options in formation, impact off the bench and cover aplenty. Not saying where we end up is a forgone conclusion, but I do have to pinch myself once in a while. Finally, I've said it before, but I genuinely believe we'll get more out of Bellamy this time around as we have more of a team ethic and the players with the ability and nous to put him in space and get on the end of what he creates.
MOM, for me was a toss up between Tommy Smith and Mark Hudson, both played really well, but my vote goes to Hudson.
