Bloody hell!!! I've not long got home and I'm still buzzing. Has there been a better complete team performance in recent years from our beloved hoops? To name a MOTM for this one is very difficult, forgive me while I type out aloud. Kenny, his best performance of the season. He always looked accomplished and made a world class save from v.Persil. Onouha, was steady and did OK, for that reason I will rule him out. Taiwo had his best performance wearing the hoops. He had Walcott in his pocket for the majority of the game. Hill was fabulous, solid, marshalled the back four like a captain, never put a foot wrong. Ferdinand, again never put a foot wrong, played v.Persil out of the game ( no mean feat ) and even carried the ball out of defence to great effect. Taarabt, took his goal well, was very composed. Drifted in and out of the game second half but saying that, he was quality and worked his socks off. Diakite... can't remember a more accomplished Ranger in possesion. He controls and carries the ball so well, took his goal superbly. A real rangers star in the making. Derry, the man is immense. The challenge on Walcott halfway through the second half epitomises what he is all about. His age belies him. Barton, to come back from his 'weekus horiblis' he showed us what he is about. Stepped away from set-pieces, made every pass count. He stopped the fifty yard champagne searching passes that we berated him for. He made himself busy and industrious in the heart of midfield. That is his role and he played it perfectly today. Mackie, as ever he competed above and beyond as you would expect. For that reason he hasn't received many plaudits on here tonight. I think we take him for granted, it was his performance that supressed Gibbs down the left flank. It was his tenacity that set up our second for Diakite to slot home. Zamora, have you seen a more complete CF display? He alone gave the whole Gunners defence a torrid afternoon, he was far too strong for them. I'm surprised that he sustained that performance for as long as he did. Brilliant. So in conclusion, I vowed to name one player as MOTM, no matter how difficult.. and that player is....I'm still not sure??? Diakite.
MOTM RESULTS - QPR v Arsenal Everybody was brilliant yesterday, but this weeks MOTM goes to ADEL TAARABT. Hopefully he can keep it up!
Like all very close call between the same 3 as everyone, lots of players shined and played well. Special mention though for a Tawio who had shut Walcott out of the wing, it's scary to play against pace as specially if your a big fella like Tawio but he handle it really well, obviously except the once where Derry covered him well.
So many to choose from: Kenny kept us in it with the RvP save, Taiwo's best game in a QPR shirt, Hill led by example, Barton's best game in a QPR shirt, how did Derry keep going like he did, Diakite an emerging star, Taarabt's composure on the ball and an excellent goal, Mackie soooo effective... but, for me, our Bobby just nicks it.... the lone man up front, a real handful, worked his socks off, went for every header. Give the man a medal.
My pc at home is too unpredictable for me to make these voting deadlines! But I'd have given it to Diakite for his all round game and the winner, though everyone deserved it.
