Yes I have one of these. I'm there now.
What a hoss. ( Loved Bonanza. ) Man o' War, winner of 20 of his 21 starts, the other being a second when reportedly facing arse about at the start of the Sanford Memorial Stakes at Saratoga. After taking a number of American and world records, Big Red had his final race in what was a massive face off against the first Triple Crown winner Sir Barton, an all time great in his own right who swept all before him in 1919. Man o' War had taken two legs of the 1920 Triple Crown, but had not started in the Derby. The Race of the Century took place in Canada's Kenilworth Park in Windsor. The event was one of the first races to be televised with 14 cameras being used for the match race, valued today at somewhere about a million dollars. Despite the rumour that Sir Barton wasn't at his best, the way Man o' War went to the post was amazing. Countries have their legends, the US Man o' War and Secretariat, Australia, Phar Lap, the great Ribot who can be claimed by England and Italy, but surely Man o' War was good as any ever seen.
