I dont think even they are that stupid, O'Neill looks like the man they want.

Do you think they will actually attract someone good? They've been going on about Moyes, O'Neill etc. but I just can't see it happening personally. As Leazes said on their board, somebody along the lines of Phil Brown seems more likely to me.

Would be great if he was pictured in a Newcastle shirt at a Newcastle match in the next few weeks.

He's been seen in the crowd at a few of our matches this season after poor Sunderland performances I'm sure. I know I definitely saw him at one, and from what I could tell it made no particular managerial sense for him to be there given who we were playing and when it was.

Ellis Short:
This has been a difficult time for everyone at Sunderland and is not a situation that any of us envisaged or expected to be in. It is my job as chairman to act in the best interests of our football club at all times and I can assure everyone that this is not a decision that I have taken lightly.

Sadly results this season have simply not been good enough and I feel the time is right to make a change. Steve has acted with honesty and integrity throughout, which is testament to the character and commitment he has shown during his time at Sunderland. I would like to personally place on record my thanks to him for his significant contribution to our football club over the past two and a half years and everyone here at Sunderland naturally wishes him the very best for the future.

I would also like to thank our fans, who have endured a trying start to the season. Their support continues to be the driving force behind our club and is vital as we now look to the future.

No way will they get Moyes, he's well thought of enough to get a better job and is loyal enough to Everton to turn down the likes of Sunderland. O'Neill maybe, but I dont see the hype, he spent millions at Villa and half of them were duds. They'll try for O'Neill IMO and probably get him, second choice maybe Hughes?

*Are you in talks with Boumsong yet?*

*Yes Mike, I'm also preparing the 10mil move for Perch*

*Excellent work agent, are they onto you yet?*

*No Mike, the idiots don't suspect a th...*

*Agent? Agent Bruce do you read me? Come in Agent Bruce, over! My god...*

Perfect match if he can up the dud rate.

I can certainly see them going for Hughes, would he take it? I honestly don't think he would. Unless Short can pull a Pardew out of the bag with some lower league apparent nobody then I don't see that they have themselves in too good a position to attract somebody new, they're hardly a big pull are they? Agree with you on O'Neill but I still think he is still higher calibre than they could expect to end up with.

I would hope they get MON as Hughes would install too much fight in them and we've all come expect a low level of fight from the gutless cnut's under "brewcey".

Hmmmmm, I'm actually gutted, I like laughing at those mongs!

I think/hope Hughes will take the Wales job.

I think Hughes would probably take it, doesnt want to stay out of the circuit for too long and took the Fulham job. Cant see him taking them very far though, just a steady side. And the only pull they have is that they have a good chairman who's willing to invest; a poor team playing badly and they dont really have much of an international reputation or transfer pull (especially compared to their much better neighbours).
