Good points them DA. Not sure whether Giacc & Alvarez are back to full fitness. Might be tempted to give them the last 30 mins against Leeds. No doubt though, fully fit, those two are well capable of causing serious problems.
Eat yer heart out Bruce <laugh>. I`d be well pleased with that mate. For me, that`s progress.

Throw in hitting the post and three top class saves from Pants and I agree.

City neatly worked the chance for Toure but he is one player I would look to man mark in that area even if it was just somebody to put him off his stroke.

Did you mean pap or gash? Either way I think you`re wrong.

45 mins of the above, yes. The rest was a damn good fight and we gave them a bloody scare.

    That`s what I think anyway.

Agree with the first part of this then I nearly spat my beer out! Vergini in for Wes would be crazy IMO. Wes is a fine defender who still has to start, Santi is a cart horse I fear. Nice on the ball but very slow and doesn't have Brown's defensive instincts. He's far from finished. We need a top young CB in the summer to learn from John and Wes

Santi is class little player. But I said from his first game at fullback that he ain't no fullback, nothing about him is a fullback so he shouldn't be judged at fullback imo. but the ability is there to be seen. I'd sign him permanently. You don't play for the Argies if you're ****e.

Let's hope our fans actually turn up for the cup tie on Sunday, because I'm sure that if we were to get to Wembley again there would be a rat race type clamour for tickets then..

Agreed, not a FB. Didn't Clichy get behind him twice to provide assists?

He's great on the ball. What have you seen to suggest he's a great CB? Apart from his name on Argentina squad sheet, I've seen little to nothing. Wes and JOS to see out the season at CB whenever possible.
Jones or Rev need to be at RB, not Santi

We have not seen much of Santi in his natural position, but he has looked better in the center when played their, at full back he has done a job for he team, no more, I would like to see our defence re-jigged, if Brown does not improve over the next game or two, . He has started to look a bit shaky in the last few games and is always suspect with the ball at his feet, very similar to Catts if I dare say so. Santi is one possibility, Rodders another, but away from home we need two DM's, six defenders and four attackers is a good balance imo.

Let's face it, City's second string includes people like Pantillimon. Their third string includes people like Rodwell. This is a team that's been scoring three goals a game - without Aguero!!! They've got an amazing squad. So we gave them a fright and went down by one goal. Am I disappointed? Well, I'd have liked a point, sure. But disappointed? - No. Giaccherini and Alvarez were coming back from injury and both showed that they could trouble even the best. We had full backs out with injury, and conceded no more than anyone else does against them lately. I think it was a damn good effort, and well done lads.

For the goal he held back a little and there was just to much space in front of him to line up a shot, having said that it was'nt a bad strike. We could use a man marking system against him but the zonal system we were using was working a treat, except that when we got hold of the ball, there was no where to go, young Watmore may be the answer to this eventually, using him the way Villa use Agbonglehor.

I never said he's a great Centreback. Hate words being put in my mouth me.

He's technically very good, way better than any defender in our squad, I think we need more players like that IMO. But he needs a spell at centerback to judge fully. But to answer your question he's played three times at centreback this season, he was shakey with his clearances againt Palace but otherwise solid and was immaculate against Stoke and Swansea at centreback, in those three games we lost none, won two and drew 1, conceded just two goals and scored 6. He's a ball playing defender who likes to play it out under a manager who likes the same and our philosophy hasn't worked better when other have played CB. CBs who can play the ball out safely aid the team in an attacking sense, if you understand our philosophy then you'll know. I've not seen him play for Argentina, I've seen him play for us and I know which position I prefer him in. Sorry if you don't agree but that's your bag. Sign him up. Genuine class, he's just not quick enough and doesn't hug the touchline or advance enough to play full back. But hey, he's clearly not a fullback.

You can say he's not good enough to play centreback if you want. He's played there three times this season and done well, very very well in two of them. So what the hell are you judging him on?<confused>
