Ashley's purple players model. We've never moved on from it, and sadly made some ****ing shocking decisions as to what makes a "purple player", i.e. Joelinton. Our second eleven is dreadful. It's always been a failed model. Rafa tried to address it by making the first eleven worse at the expense of a stronger squad. But these things aren't strategies for success, they're recipes for failure, which is why under Ashley we will always end up relegated at some point.

Even so, football is really in a bad state at the moment. Here and abroad. The dominance of about 8 clubs should be making people panic, yet they blindly carry on and never even comment about it. The sport desperately needs a more honest overview - the sycophants at Sky blowing smoke up the holes of the wealthy doesn't help. Brief example - any media outlet that used the words "30 years of hurt" in association with Liverpool. They must've won about 12 trophies or so during that 30 years, including the CL.
