You are the only person that has said that. I know you are trying to imply thats what has been put across, but it isn't.

Let's face it lads. We were unlucky today and it hurts more because they did not score a good goal which we did. We all know with Mvila, Kirchoff and Cats in the side we would have at least got a point.

    Onwards and upwards.

Even if Defoe felt a bit tight, his presence alone would have prevented City pressing so high up because you just can't leave that sort space behind the back line with players like Defoe on the pitch. As soon as he came off we dropped too deep with no outlet or deterrent to prevent them piling forward. It was asking for it really.

    Agree with every word, mate.

I'm really encouraged though, I think our defence was spot on. I was quite impressed with Love, for that being his debut. Good going forward, he's got a tidy cross on him and seems to read the game well. His defensive work obviously needs brushing up, but I'm sure Moyes will sharpen him up on that.

I thought Rodwell had a presence today, he grew into the game as it went on. O'Shea will surely not start another game this season, his legs look like they have completely gone now. Gooch looked bright, but he was very raw. I'd be inclined to send him out on loan to the Championship, if we can get more signings in.

Defoe, what a beast man. We must bring in another forward, if anything happens to him there's nobody there that inspires me with confidence, at the moment.

Me too, he was very poor today and I don't think we will see much more of JoS, at least I hope not.

I thought PVA's defending was back to it's dodgyself. Love did well, looked a bit shakey. We need to bring in another rb in to take the pressure off him and I think he'll come alone just nicely. Kone and Kaboul. We can't break them up man. Keep Kone at the club and keep Kaboul fit and they'll do us proud.

Defoe looks just as deadly as last year. Need to sort his service out though. Catts or the Hoff on the pitch with him needed, they seem the only two players capable of droping a ball behind a back line. Januzai looks quick and nimble, he and Khazri need to start vs Boro to add some creation. When is Borini going to add some creativity to his game? Don't think it's going to come myself. He grafts his arse of but key passes are few and far between. Bit of investment and we're going to outgrow Borini pretty fast.

Happy though, wouldn't have put out the same line up, wouldn't have made that final sub, but we looked organised and commited and there's no shame in that scoreline away to city, especially to a pen and own goal. Feel ok about things. More faces needed next week though.

Looking just at a couple of the new lads.

I thought Love did really well, certainly as well as Yedlin did in his first game. As long as he develops he will be our first choice.

Gooch was excellent. He worked extremely hard but also used the ball well. He has awareness too, the yellow card he got was no mistake, he saw there was a dangerous attack building so did what he had to do. Looks like he can beat a man and can create.

All in all I am very happy with these 2 and would have no worries about them coming into the side in the future.

New manager, reshaped team forced onto him by injuries etc get within minutes of a worthy draw against a top team. Plenty of positives to take from this and longer term they far outweigh an unlucky result. Defoe's substitution had nothing with Mannon's deflection of the ball into the danger area leading to their second.

First game and it is looking good with two weeks still left in the window.

Didn't see the game but seemed to do alright with a patched up side on MOTD.

Get us a right back, CM and striker minimum and we can move forward.

Also we need to keep Kone, his understanding with Kaboul is outstanding.

Not criticising, I was just anyalising the game. I've said i'm happy. But I'm no happy clapper and I'm no doom monger, I like a bit of balance. I'm a firm believer in defending from the front. If you rewatch that match you'll see the defence drop 10m deeper when Defoe went off. Also pay attention to how City struggled to hit the byline until we dropped deep. It wasn't a freak goal. We let a dangerous team hit the byline. We invited them on, allowed them to push numbers up and they stretched us and scored. It's not a criticism, as I said I'm happy with us but it doesn't mean I should be denied the right to balance out a positive with a negative and visa versa. We're not perfect by a long shot and I like talking football. :)<ok>

Had a few hours.....and drinks to reflect and today was good. I still think we are short of a couple of first team players. Oshea should deffo not be starting and we need another RB and CF but all in all we didn't look out of place today.

Disagree totally there. The ball never stuck up top once today and it wasn't anyone's fault except the people passing the ball. Can't remember many accurate balls in to Defoes feet back to goal. Hate losing to an og. But we're used to that by now!! Saw a lot of promise today. New lads did well. Gooch looked dangerous on his cameos down the line. But for a daft challenge and a very unlucky deflection we'd have got something from a very good team (on the ball. Created so little though).

On the plus side... Aguero and Defoe are in my fantasy football team

Look at the starting line up. Who was expecting a drubbing? I certainly was.

Well it didnt happen. That makeshift team gave City a game, but it wasnt to be.

Give Moyes a bit more time, a few more of his signings, a few injured players return, he will have this team bang on.

2-1 away to a Pep ****fest, with a makeshift team. Head held high. This is gonna be a good season.

    Long live big Dave.

After reading that Khazri was told on Tuesday he would not be starting I am beginning to think that DM may have chosen a tactical team to frustrate City and but for a rash(ish) challenge they did not harm us. Maybe he is more savvy than we think.
