Cardiff, huddersfield, Fulham, us - one will be the first to gamble on a change and Allardyce will be near the top of a shopping list. Sadly, I would rather go down and re-build than go down that route.
Genuinely think Allardyce would get much more out of this team than Hughes. At least he would instill some discipline and fitness.

I am not surprised that we are defensively porous. We saw at Stoke how they regressed, defensively, once the Pulis effect wore off. Yes Hughes gave them their best seasons and made them a marginally better footballing team, but once things started to go wrong at the back, he was unable to turn it around. His get out was that they had streak players that would score goals. Here he doesn’t have that luxury. Nor does he have the benefits of a strong and stable defence. Right now I would take Big Sam, but I’m not sure he could coach our defence into becoming more reliable and solid. The midfield needs to take their share of blame as well. The space City took advantage of, between them and the back four was criminal. They were two completely separate departments that weren’t working together for large parts of the game.
Allardyce would keep this team up, of that I'm sure. Whether I would want to stay up with Allardyce in charge is a completely different question
Am I the only one on here that is not averse to Big Sam? I'm not finished with MH yet, but not averse to Big Sam at all.
It depends what you want really. If he was here would I expect him to be able to get us finishing comfortably around 10th each season with the odd run into the top half? Yes. Would I expect him to build a solid team that can generate results and be effective? Yes. I just don't think the football would be any good to watch and, whilst effective, that doesn't interest me. If playing that way for a purpose (trying to get promoted, or win a trophy) then yeah sign me up, but just staying in the PL which is boring enough in itself isn't attractive to me in anyway. It would be good for me to troll people with though so that is another big tick
The man just stinks. I can’t stand the bloke. I’ll be so disappointed if my club ever gave him a job.
Pretty much my feelings exactly. If we don't beat Watford or Fulham - with Utd and Spurs to then follow in the two league games after that - I'll be ready for us to make a chance. Pro-Hughes or anti-Hughes (or I'm-not-really-fussed-either-way-Hughes), it doesn't really matter if we don't beat Watford or Fulham. Things will look very bleak, and someone like Sam might just be the answer. Especially because, as I said earlier, he would surely only take the job on the condition that we spend in January. As I recall, he signed quite a few players for Palace and Sunderland in the January windows as part of keeping those sides up.
I remember leaving the Etihad with so much pride last season, having stayed to applaud the team off at the end, following Sterling’s goal that came in the early hours of the following morning. I wonder how @tomw24 and @The Liebherr Legacy felt coming out the ground!
Thing with Sam is name a team he has done a really BAD job. I just can't think of one. I am sort of with you, but I think this is where we are now. We aren't the Cortese/Liebherr team, we are a struggling PL side.
I think you are being polite here FLT but completely agree. I can't stand looking at him I can't stand listening to him I can't stand his style of play I can't stand his arrogance I can't stand his behaviour. The blokes a cnut.
I don't like him...but I don't have to. We need something and whilst I don't want MH out, I wouldn't be upset if BFS was his replacement. Maybe it is due to the fact that I am losing interest. I am actually starting to look for things to do on a Saturday so I don't need to watch the footie.
Oh god, please stop the Big Sam talk. The man is a disgrace and a disaster. Simply look at his career and give an example of what would recommend him to manage our club? Similarly look for reasons against and then decide. ANYONE else would be a better appointment.
For me personally, it’s a line I don’t want to cross, struggling PL side or not. He stands for so much don’t like and I’d feel dirty if he was our manager. I’d lose a little love.
