Hi SA! Delighted that Pompey won as it is always great to see our Solent teams win. As for SFC, my feelings have been completely nullified with the dross that is being served up, and it is shameful, after all the work that was put in to regain PL status. It appears that the club are frittering away this status without so much as a fight.
The frightening aspect in all this, will be the slide in attendances. I notice it has already started. If the attendance for the next PL game at St Mary´s is around 25,000, that alone should send a message to the board room.
Yep, everything is basically **** flavoured; then there’s Brexit, Trump, global warming, oceans full of plastic, and Pompey top of League One. I’m off to find a cat to kick. Although actually I like cats, so that’s out. Maybe I’ll get Shane Long to kick it.
Good money has been invested into the playing squad, the Academy (both underperforming badly) and training ground, the problem is that the club has been run poorly in the last few seasons and the last 18 months it has been run appallingly. The people charged with making these decisions should be accountable because if we don't change direction soon the owner is going to lose a lot of income.
Must admit, baffled by the constant picking of some players over others. If honest I did think in my clinical thinking, that we would get hammered today if City turned up and we buckled in the first 20 mins. The fact is 3 managers have had this squad, we’ve added nothing to the depth or quality being brutally honest, and the team morale seems below floor level. MH had success elsewhere and where that was the case the improvement in the Welsh team and Blackburn was fairly quick in coming. Why we’re not seeing that apart from the odd flash of decent play is a complete mystery to me. Changing him for another revolving door type manager(Moyes eg) is not the answer in my view. The top management are the problem, they’ve provided a poor pool of players, done nothing to address the key positions on the field, don’t seem to be concerned about the way things are going, are absent from their post most of the time, all of which must be an infuriating position to run the team. So MH does what he thinks is best with this squad, trying to get the maximum from a pretty minimum squad it seems. Moyes, Allardyce, whoever could not do better. Hopefully we have enough games to get points and get the miracle turnaround, I know it’s not a popular view but MH is there and unless he decides to walk, (that would say something!) he should be allowed to continue and be given some REAL help in the January window!!!
Large money has been invested, but that money has been raised by selling players. So we are almost always in the situation where we are replacing a player first rather than adding to the squad. If we look at our total net spend since the summer Poch left I would be very sure we are in profit overall. Even with piss poor recruitment such as ours in the last couple of years, if we had a net spend in line with other teams similar to us in that time frame (West Ham/Leicester/Everton etc) then our squad would be better. Throw enough **** etc
