Firstly, excellent analysis & I personally have always understood & appreciated Redmonds strength wrt to his defensive responsibilities. Definitely why he’s Ralph’s “go to” wide mid. No doubt you’re aware I’m definitely not a Redmond fan but would never moan during a game. What frustrates, annoys the hell out of me is his forward play, decision making, etc. No need for me to say anymore. Due for his worldie attacking performance tonight of course.

This is why Pep really needed the fans there, - I'm only semi-joking. I think the press were confused by the "hard game against Southampton" reasoning, so just dismissed it as him politely saying, "we need fans to turn up against the lesser teams." In the lead up Pep was talking (as was RH) about the enjoyment of facing each other. Could it be that Pep showed his frenemy a bit too much respect?
