“The only clear and obvious error that VAR should have ruled on was allowing Moss to referee this game” This made me laugh out loud!
Yes. Maybe a bit harsh on Armstrong in a previous post. Our attack in general isn't quite clicking, though there are good runs being made, and some good build up play. I guess it will take time, getting used to the new personnel through the team. I do love these games though, where the plan is seen through, and the team are all clearly playing for each other and the manager. It could be a really interesting season with some luck.
I'm fully expecting Walker to be in Garth Crooks' Team of the Week, for his 'inch perfect, immaculately timed tackle on some player from a team in red and white'
He's so clueless he'll glance at the pictures and say that Man City really should be beating Sunderland especially as they are two divisions below.
I actually like Garth Crooks he makes me laugh and whilst on here really admire Mark Noble. I think I'm crazy, even so, ever since I was a kid and my mum tried to encourage me to wear white socks because " Prince Charles does" I harbour an unshakable dislike of him only exceeded by Boris Johnson.
The best thing about the Crooks team of the week is that when you go to pick your own, you can have Stuart Armstrong in the team....but not Oriol Romeu.
REF WATCH: Dermot waffling trying to defend the decison, no surprise there. He failed to convince the three Sky pundits, or anyone else I suspect. VERDICT: Correct decision, no penalty. DERMOT SAYS: I think this is a very complex and interesting issue. My initial reaction was penalty and yellow card. Having seen it again, the only certainty is that it isn't a red card. He makes a challenge for the ball, which means no double jeopardy. I don't think it's a penalty now I've seen the replay. The angle the referee looked at, that convinced him, shows Armstrong overrun the ball. I think Walker gets around him, and Armstrong goes in and catches Walker on the back of the calf. I think the referee got it right having looked at the monitor. I think Walker just gets in front of Armstrong, and Armstrong actually goes into the back of Walker's leg.
Mark Noble would be a legend at any club, and rightly so. He's claret and blue through and through, and while I don't have much love for West Ham, I respect him for that. I'd probably rather watch horse racing with Prince Charles than football with Crooks though tbh.
I wonder if any football fan in the Uk really likes or respects G Crooks football input? I’m more in the detest side but that’s just me.
I have on good authority that his immediate family have their doubts about his punditry. There are also some who regard him as the font of all knowledge, there is a helpline for these unfortunate individuals where reality check therapy is available. The rest of the football fraternity agree he's a complete and utter twat.
I am at a loss to understand why we are so concerned about pundits when they comment on matters we have witnessed first hand. Is it so we can contradict their vies and start an argument or is it because people are so insecure that they need someone to reinforce their opinion of what they have just seen. Does a single pundit influence your view of what you have witnessed on a football pitch? Do they add to your enjoyment of the game? They're all superfluous, some more so than others.
Some, a small minority, can help improve the viewer's understanding of the game. Alan Hansen was always good at that, pointing out things most fans probably wouldn't have seen. Glenn Hoddle is another whose insights are often informative, though I expect to get slaughtered for saying that
This is a really good analysis. I wish Saints fans bemoaning the presence of Redmond constantly would read things like this - I suspect he takes on these defensive instructions better than Tella at this stage, hence why he's been playing against the likes of United and City. We'll see Tella in the more attacking scenarios, I'm pretty sure. Just not these ones. https://zuishek.medium.com/southamptons-press-and-the-hypnosis-of-pep-guardiola-2dcf986923e5
