Hate the friend of Mahrez saying that we let DD and Kante go, Kante was a release clause and Chelsea actually paid our valuation for DD, if there was a release clause in Mahrez's contract or Man City wern't trying to cheap us, he'd be gone. Though i do haveto say, we probably won't be offered £60m for him again, imagine with a 6 month shorter contract and his supposed actions/reaction, he'll probably go for less. Then again VVD was a bigger ****, and Liverpool still paid £75m for him.
I guess it depends if he knuckles down for the next 4 months or not, or we'll be back to Roma haggling us to death again.
From The Mercury - pretty much my view (and no it's not me) "So let’s explain to his ‘friend’ why City ultimately didn’t sell Mahrez on transfer deadline day. Firstly, Manchester City didn’t offer Leicester what they considered to be the current market value. Unimpressed by Mahrez's behaviour It has been a record-breaking window which has seen Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona for £145million, a player whose stats in the first half of the season didn’t match Mahrez’s. A centre-back, Virgil van Dyke, went for £75m and Manchester City themselves spent £57m on young French defender Aymeric Laporte. Now, considering Mahrez is a Premier League winner, a Champions League quarter-finalist, a PFA player of the year, a Ballon d’Or top 10 nominee and is aged 26 with two-and-a-half years still left on a lucrative contract that he was happy to sign 18 months ago, was a deal said to be worth £65m, which included a mystery player - a true valuation? Mahrez and Manchester City will argue yes, but City will say no. Another factor was that City were not exactly impressed with the behaviour of Mahrez and his agent over the past couple of days and everyone around the club knows that chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is not a man who likes being pushed around, dictated to or even bullied."
Does anyone know if Riyad turned up for training today? I just hope fans don't start booing him when/if he plays. That's not going to solve anything. We need to show him how much he means to us. Hopefully he will get his head down, play to his full potential. He will then probably leave in the summer.
The offer from Man City did seem to come totally out of the blue (no pun intended) so late on in the window and seemed to lead to complete panic in the Mahrez camp. It didn't give any time for rational thought and negotiation between the two parties, but it does show how desperate Mahrez is to get away from the club even though Puel recently said he seemed 'happy' to be here. I totally understand his frustration. The opportunity to play under Guardiola must be a dream for most players, but very few will get the opportunity and the opportunity might only come knocking once. But Mahrez is a player with a special talent and he needs to get someone in his ear to get his mind sorted out and get him playing again at his best. The only way Mahrez will keep Pep interested is to show what he can do on the pitch between now and the end of the season. If he can swallow his pride and apologise to the rest of the squad, and show the mental strength to go through his rehabilitation then things could still work out for him. Sulking in the background is going to put potential suitors off. If he gives his best until the end of the season then he can go with dignity with everyone's blessing.
I would think he's already set up for life mate thanks to Vichai who sanctioned a punt on him as a unknown entity and not really thought much of in France ? The club did not stop his dream move....... Man City were not prepared to pay Mahrez's market value ! Him carping on about Drinkwater and Kante being allowed to move ? We got the market value for both ......... in fact I think we had Chelsea's pants down as far as drinky was concerned. If the lad has any sense, he'll apologise to his teammates, the coach/staff and our more than generous owners and knuckle down and do what he is paid to do !
Spot on. Like Keegan once said: 'I'd love to be a mole on the wall' in the dressing room when he next shows his face.
Apparently not at training this morning. Obviously i read this online and can't be certain if it's true or not .
Funny thing is, he's gone into a sulk on numerous occasions when being subbed..... so fook knows how he'd of taken to warming Citeh's bench, week in week out once Sane,Jesus & co were fit ?
Mahrez didnt attend training again today. He might be shooting himself in the foot as his attitude and behaviour might put some clubs off
Berahino @ West Bom didn't fair too well though Fosse and I think his career and personal life have nose dived since to be fair buddy ! I think he's finished at our club now mate ?
Payet too Could go either way really, just haveto see how he ends the season. Would they have had a training session the day after the match?
This about sums up my thoughts, though I do not want a sulking schoolboy anywhere near our football club ! https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/f...ter-refused-to-buckle-under-Man-City-approach
