Guilty secrets : I want Man City to trouser all available silverware.

This is because they enrage all the older and established plastics I know and make them look ****s for playing the slightly tattered 'plucky little underdogs but with a proud history' card.

Typically the Man U and LFC ones bleat about money buying success (chortle) and lack of proper support (I know!). as if Anal Field and Old Trafford were full of noisy locals rather than thousand upon thousands of bogus Reds from Tromso and Wicklow, Trelleborg, Phnomh Penh and Pyong Yang etc.

Exquisite irony.

Enjoyable moment in my local when Man City started doing well. They were on TV and a bloke I used to work with was stood at the bar. He cheered when Man City scored. Some East Yorks Red turned round and said that it seemed we had some glory hunters in jumping on the bandwagon. The bloke was born in Moss side and made it as far as the bench at Man City in the days of Lee, Bell and Summerbee. He used to help out at training sessions for my lads junior team and they just could not believe his pace and he as in his fifties then. He wasn't the type to mention who he had played for to the dickhead but I enjoyed doing so.

Enjoyable moment in my local when Man City started doing well. They were on TV and a bloke I used to work with was stood at the bar. He cheered when Man City scored. Some East Yorks Red turned round and said that it seemed we had some glory hunters in jumping on the bandwagon. The bloke was born in Moss side and made it as far as the bench at Man City in the days of Lee, Bell and Summerbee. Know/Knew lots of (Mancunian) City and Utd fans – generally speaking, both a good knowledgeable and grounded group. That could be the company I was lucky enough to keep of course.

One of the issues for me that stands out was that City were obsessed with Utd (akin to Scots with English) and that seemed to supersede their own proud culture.

The mantra was simple and the same: Utd bought their success.

Of course now, they now buy success to unparalleled levels – it’s almost akin to cheating on some sort of football manager game. It’s as dull as **** too.

Anyway, the thing that really stuck in my mind at the time was when the majority of City fans simply accepted the Thai dictator without question just for the promise of investment, after years of so-called stoic principles and condemnations. I had plenty of words with City fans who justified it. And, this wasn’t that long after the much maligned Utd fans had fought off Murdoch and had split to form their own club (post-Glazier). Knew quite a few FC United fans – it was quite refreshing at the time.

The few I knew were well educated in football terms and had just had enough of the bullshit. I recall some occasional animosity between them and some other Utd fans. The ones I knew dreaded it being ruined by success and wanted to not progress as far as the Conference.

I always intended to check out a game (think they were playing home games at Bury at the time), but never made it.

I once went in a pub in the old town in Bridlington years ago..There was man u scarfs and a couple of man it's flags on the wall, Mr Barchullona (early 70s ) in the days they never won F all

The Scarborough v fc United friendly was ok though they beat us.

FC United's supporters stood in the shed seperated by 2 old stewards

Loads of banter and only a couple of handbag fights.
