That all sounds like a nice done deal with whoever the 'independent commission' happen to be. They will get away with it on technicalities, but then the rules (and potential punishments) will be tightened even more as a result, meaning we'll struggle to ever get to where City are now.
FFP will now end. And we rise quicker. or.. it gets tighter and our current competitors get slapped with bans and deductions… win win
I hear they are also clamping down on sock accounts, with bans plus back-dated fines that get multiplied per sock.
See, if they just said any wealthy benefactor can gift whatever they want, it ends all of it. These should be taxable donations, or whatever, and cannot affect the balance sheet. All the balance sheet needs to do is ensure the club is sustainable with or without the extra investment. If you did that, the donation couldn't be ridiculous. There should be no limit on how much can be spent on facilities and support staff. Then you factor in far better control over loans and you have an easily sustainable model. It's foundations are right, the application, which was constructed in part by the greedy few, is wrong.
Is this with the government talking about independent controls being put into place so they have to start looking like they are getting there house in order.
They're ****ed, absolutely ****ed. Just reading it and the more I'm reading the more I'm convinced its serious enough to strip them of titles and relegate them.
