That's what I'm saying. they've already asked for special dispensation citing the PL's refusal to punish Everton. This is about to turn into a cluster ****.
I wonder how many PL execs will 'step down' (with a nice big brown paper bag) over the coming months.
I reckon they had no choice when the Gov announced an independent advisor was coming in. No idea what it'll mean though. I mean, it's basically saying City defrauded the competition for nearly a decade and cheated their way to success. Which we all know/knew. UEFA are utter pussies, having weird clauses such as not being able to go back more than 3 years or some other bullshit in their "rules", City should have had their ass handed to them back in 2015 or so.
Be interesting what penalties (if any) City get. If it is minor, I wonder what the response would be from PIF. Given the song and dance over our takeover, I expect City to get away with it with nothing more than a fine.
I don't think it's minor enough for them to 'get away with'. Fine is guaranteed, but a combination of points deduction, spending limit/bans and of course the immediate exit of Guardiola could also happen.
I wonder if we've played any part in this, and whether others have helped dig this grave? Remember back in Dec 2021 when they brought in new, "emergency" rules around something like relevant revenues or commensurate sums, that kind of wording? I wonder if we went - "fair enough, but unless you want to face us in court (again), you need to go back and look at what's been happening."
I'm imagining that. As a comparator to that, I just saw a game from 2015 when we had Riviere and Shola up front.
The real cluster **** show will be if other clubs get together and start legal action against Man City for loss of revenue (from missing out on Europe when City qualified, or from losing to city in cup competitions, or even just loss of Sky/TV revenue from finishing lower than them in PL for all those years, etc.).
No, it’s good timing because now we can do it with more savvy. They just dicked around with all kinds of loopholes. Their values are fine now they’ve won stuff, it was when they were a crappy club in League One in 2005 then started getting massive deals in 2010, made no sense.
Honestly think it will end it. Very least change it to a safeguarding event where the money's need to be paid into an escrow account for the transfer fee and duration of the contract to protect the clubs if the owners leave.
It could also mean it might take us a lot longer to see success, as there will be far more scrutiny on following financial regs. City (and most likey others in the 'big 6') have already done it, already have the mobey and the trophies and will now get a slap for being naughty. But it will be wayyy harder for us to fast track. Unless the current rule books are completely shredded and a new format implemented.
Hmmmmm I dunno but what you can guarantee is they'll make an example of newcastle united the very moment they breach anything.
Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with. The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position. As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all.
Ffp coming into question isn't good imo... they'll be blocking newcastles opportunities... City are already there .
