Let's have a look at all this from a fan level - it's quite clear we're only getting bit parts of the whole saga. Does anyone outside Tan and Malky really know what the problem between them is? What was the reason behind that email that Tan sent for him to apparently word it so strongly? Loads of theories: - 1) Overspending the agreed budget. Moody allegedly paid the price for that, but wasn't Lim implicit in any financial arrangement having to sign them off as CEO? Was Malky even party to the actual cash committed on the acquisition deals? Surely that's a pure fiscal matter when it comes to spending a limited overall amount. 2) The identification of potential signees and their value to the club right now (not for the future) relative to the price paid - ergo a waste of Tan's money through bad intelligence? Moody again on this one, but Malky would have had a huge input here - he would have been upfront for these decisions. 3) The actual dour playing style that Malky has instilled as opposed to a more adventurous approach that tends to please audiences - particularly in Asia? 4) Unrealistic expectations on the part of Tan as to where we should be in the table right now, and Malky as manager is not delivering (in Tan's opinion). 5) Tan's apparent intervention in teams affairs and tactics (even at dressing room levels) has infuriated Mackay to the point that it is actually Malky that shown what Tan sees as disrespect towards him. That would be a social matter that could be the easiest (or even the hardest) to rectify if both parties wish to agree a way forward (or not). Whatever the reason, it appears to be Tan's agenda that's being questioned. Although he seems to be totally out of touch with the business that is "football" in this country, but given what's gone down so far, has Malky now got a very firm agenda of his own to engineer an escape by bailing out as the "good guy" being hard done by? Maybe he feels he's been driven to it, but attempting to secure an even better deal for himself elsewhere whilst his stock is so high wouldn't be an unreasonable assumption.
Seems a fair assessment Sparkey. It's reasonable to assume that it is in Tans best interest that the club does well in all departments though. At this moment in time I am not sure thats Malky's top priority.
I agree anyone can say anything for public consumption Sweetblue - its like that annoying ritual of players kissing the club badge on the pitch - a bigger payday elsewhere and most would be off like a shot and bollucks the the badge. I'm not saying Malky is in that category, but he is a current employee of the club (in other words Tan) and will at sometime sooner or later won't be - it's the name of the game. You are perfectly correct in saying that whilst Tan seems a lunatic on the surface in his approach to running a football club, he's got far more to lose than Mackay should it all go tits up. Malky would move on, either pushed or jumped to another club with a lucrative contract, and Tan will be left with the problem. For all Malky's expressions of affinity to CCFC, his staff and fans which I don't doubt for a minute, he will eventually go elsewhere, taking his staff with him and engaging with a new set of fans. It's in the life of 99% of football managers to take the opportunity when it suits them - you only have to look down the road at the departure of Martinez and Rodgers. Tan maybe on the fringe of lunacy in some respects, but he's not daft enough to ignore that fact. He will do his best to protect his investment the best way he sees fit. The worry for us is that he can't see the wood for the trees in this football game at the moment, and is running on emotion rather than common sense.
Nothing Malky has said is wrong. However as the manager and his current current relationship with Tan it does look as if he is manufacturing his own dismissal.
Malky crossed the line last week, and in life once that happens there's usually no going back as it can never be the same! Believe me, he wants out with the full package!
No doubt about it. Malky is now engineering the sack with the pay off that goes with it. He's put up with enough crap this season and has probably decided enough is enough. I certainly wouldn't blame him.
But surely rather than playing for a draw each game you'd just go all out in rather not give a ****e manner. I would anyway.
Did he really cross the line anymore than he had already? Only really said the fans opinions were their own. I think when he said tan wouldn't meet was more inflammatory.
How on earth can you justify saying your statement that Malky is a spoilt kid sulking? He's behaved with complete dignity throughout. You want him to cow tow and tucg his forelock at a bully. He's standing up to him in the most dignified way possible. You're talking gibberish.
