Nigel Gibbs wouldn't be a bad shout but my money would be on Dyche. He was manager of the under 19s(?) and other aspects of the youth set-up a few years back so he would know a lot of the younger players and has a record of working with them. Plus he knows the club generally. He'd be cheap and it fits in with Malky's own trajectory through the ranks.
BD I asked Dyche at the end of season do ,whether he wanted to be No1 if MM left, He said he didnt he was ready yet, maybe in a couple of years ,and that he fell on his feet and was fortunate to be here! If he were to be the Boss ,I dont think the youngsters would mess with him !!! It would defo be a change in managing style!!!
I think you'll find NNW was joking Elixir. I suspect the board will go for the cheap option and give Dyche a crack if MM goes. May not be the worst idea. Promoting from within didn't do Liverpool any harm in their glory years. I am not confident though, that MM will stay. Would not be surprised if he's already been told there is no money to spend and that the youngsters will have to step up. Really not sure where we're going to get a replacement for DG. It took him a while to settle and I can't see Sordell banging in enough goals next season. We relied on our ability to get 2-3 goals in many games last season just to get a result. If our defence doesn't improve I can't see us matching that this season.
Hessenthaler could be a good bet - he has been pretty successful at Dover and Gillingham and knows how to operate on a tight budget - and he is former Watford too
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news...cle745385.html I'd love to know where the red top rags get their info - £300k + a transfer fee?. I'm not sure what the going transfer rate is for a manager but given our current situation, that would be money better spent in the transfer market. (no offence to MM) Agree with Elixir69 - we are far from a top side. I'll settle for established Championship side but having said that, christ we haven't even got a team at the moment. Anyway, back on topic - I'll stand by my earlier post regarding MM...I just dont see it happening. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly come back for the proverbial humble pie. All the best Hornets.
If he does leave, then does anyone fancy Boothroyd coming back? Paddy Power have MM as favourite for the Cardiff Job
No thanks, I like Aidy but he's had his shot and I dont think he can move the club forward now. Hes been rumbled too many times.
Monday: The player most likely to develop into someone capable of raising an Ashley Young type fee is sold for £1m. Arguably his market worth if he doesn't get any better, but you would expect to get an over-the-odds fee for a player with such blatant potential. Tuesday: Star striker sold for less than what equivalent, lower scoring players at other clubs are being lined up for. Wednesday: A man who has served us very well in the boardroom during some of our very darkest days, and who had a strong working relationship with Malky, leaves the club without comment. Three days ago, this rumour was ridiculous. It now makes a lot of sense. The only thing I am not convinced about is that the compensation would be as low as £300k.
Cardiff would seriously regret appointing MM - he is far better at a realistic club like ours - for goodness sake Dave Jones took Cardiff to the brink of promotion so they are saying their next manager has to get promotion or else.....
Oh, I definitely don't want Dave Jones if MM goes. But a club prepared to put up with a whiny, lying, annoying c...lub manager would do very well to appoint him. For all his flaws, he gets the results. My point is simply that three days ago, leaving Watford for Cardiff would have seemed a ridiculous move. Now, it doesn't.
Unfortunately I can't help but agree with you. As for a replacement Keith Hill would have been my first choice, shame he's gone to Barnsley. Though I will take Dave Jones!
God dam them Cardiff, but loko at it this way there must be something very wrong there for so many managers to say no thanx, MM has his head screwed on so Im sure he would also decline.
