Thats what says the most, according to some, MM would be signing today, but they are saying they have not spoken to anyone officially, which surely means that there is no chance of Malky going as he is honest and has integrity so would not do anything against the rules. It simply quotes the bookies as their source as with everyone else, and we know how far off the mark they can be!!

Let's face it, we have no idea how good or bad things are behind the scenes.

Most of the statements coming out of the Vic could be spoken by a MP who does not want anyone to have the faintest idea what he is talking about.

Trying to pick out what is fact and what is speculation is difficult. Cardiff are saying that they have not approached anyone, but have held talks with one or two candidates. This can only mean that they have been talking to out of work managers. There are one or two about who have had more experience and success than MM. Let's be clear, he is a young up and coming manager, but has yet to prove that he can win anything.

I suspect that the owners of Cardiff might well add the costs of wages and compensation and weigh them against just wages. You might find that you spend a great deal more to take a chance on someone without a promotion under their belts.

OFH, I would say potential in a football manager is priceless and cannot be quantified.

Man U saw potential in Ferguson, and they are now a different club. Some say for the good ...........

Elixir, you may well be right about potential, but I wonder if things are changing with so many clubs being forced into austerity measures. There are a few managers around who have proved that with the right backing they will have a very good crack at getting promotion for you. If you think that you can afford someone from that category then you are more likely to want that person to make your outlay worthwhile.

I remember reading somewhere that Ashley Young's younger brother had the potential to be a better player than him, yet he has disappeared without trace. He never fulfilled his potential, so if we had taken a chance with him, we would had lost out.

    His Aberdeen era:
    Alex Ferguson (1978–1986)
Under Ferguson's guidance, the club won three league championships, one Dryborough Cup, four Scottish Cups, the European Cup Winner's Cup, the European Super Cup and a League Cup - all in the space of seven years.

He then went on to become Scotland Manager before going to Manchester - now that is a little more than "potential" isn't it?

Totally different Cardiff City back then to the one now though...New Stadium, ambitious owners and we still have a lot of history such as 3 FA Cup Final appearances (and 1 win), beating Real Madrid in 1971 and almost winning the league in the 50s (missing out by one goal....).

I would say that right now, Cardiff are a lot more attractive proposition than Watford because of the finances and the ambition.

Fair points MJW - at the moment - assuming that your overseas owners are sound - you are in better shape than us. (that's not hard though) :(

I am sure even if Mackay leaves that you will be fine there. As you said, you have a good youth set-up and how many people wrote you off before when Boothroyd went and Rodgers came in and then Mackay coming in? I imagine you will find another strong up and coming manager and manage to have a decent season :)

i don't think Malky would go to Cardiff, he has too much potential to have a pitstop somewhere that could be an unstable move for him. He's better off staying and getting a bunk up over other championship clubs next season.
