A camel's pretty appropriate, because Adel's gonna have at least one hump when he's told Joey's taken over the captaincy...

Am I being entirely stupid or has this whole deal been cooked up so that the red logo of Air Asia looks good on the away kits and the blue logo of Malaysia Airlines looks good on the home kit? Coincidence or cunning ploy to avoid those nasty colour clashes you sometimes see with sponsors logos?

Most Corporate Identities carry a white out version or a one colour version for such eventualities.

QPRBoss keen for QPR to attract Asian fans

Manager Neil Warnock believes QPR’s new sponsorship deal can help the club attract young fans in Asia.

Malaysia Airlines will sponsor Rangers’ home shirt and AirAsia the away shirts as part of a two-year agreement.

Both companies are owned by Tony Fernandes, who recently completed a takeover at Loftus Road.

“The youngsters in Asia, and in Malaysia in particular, can get on board with something that’s just beginning to happen,” said Warnock.

“It gives them an option – an alternative – because not everyone wants to be associated with clubs where money’s no object. We all like an underdog.

“We’re putting ourselves out to the next generation. The exciting challenge for us now is to get a new generation of youngsters in Asia supporting Queens Park Rangers.”

Not really sponsorship in the conventional sense, is it?

More a triangular advertising opportunity. One that puts QPR in the Asian imagination. Bound to feature hooped shirts in commercials advertising both airlines.

The club will get returns from this and Tony will get his money back especially if he can do with Malaysia Airlines what he's done with Air Asia.

Didn't quite see it at first but looks a three-way win, win, win strategy now I come to think about it.

I agree with you, Brix. Be interesting to know how Tony squared it with the Mittals...

Keen to attract Asian fans? Putting Malaysia on the shirt is a sure fire way to alienate 240,000,000 Indonesians!
