My trade is youth justice. Kids need support, guidance, supervision and the right kind of control and discipline but not half the estate going round with petrol bombs. We are trying to create the right citizens of tomorrow so they need see the right modelling from adults, not hate. I’d say we are doing a pretty bad job of it. It’s totally normal that people get angry after horrible **** like this, I’m angry but anger is at the last god knows how many years when support for young people has disappeared along with tax for the highest earners. We need to show them we care by giving them organised activities run by assertive caring adults who aren’t their parents. They may start to mimic caring for others.
I'm all for naming anyone convicted. However, in these days of rapid information exchange and mob justice I think it's dangerous. I remember the horrendous 'Here's the weirdo who killed Joanna Yates' headlines when the Bristol landlord's face was on every front page. He'd have been lynched if he hadn't gone into hiding but was absolutely innocent.
They’ll have moved them to a safe house after the events the other night. They’ll potentially have other kids they need to safeguard. Any rationally thinking 17 year old with think this through but he’ll have caused significant upheaval. Professionally speaking it wouldn’t surprise me if this lad has significant complexities and they’ve moved before. Levels of support are patchy at best with significant increases in numbers of needy young people without significant increases in health investment and there are also shortages in medication particularly around adhd. In turn this creates suffering in the wider world as behaviours play out within a context of overstretched policing. It’s a mess and why I’m always saying not taxing those who can to pay for services is idiotic. The vulnerable are almost always the victims.
Are you implying that’s not what I meant at the end there? If you don’t get help for those who need it it’s almost inevitably vulnerable victims. Like them poor kids. Often female.
It was vague enough for me to feel the the necessity to reiterate it, interesting that the tone you took was adversarial rather than in agreement.
Isn't it usual in such cases for u18s not to be named unless a judge deems it to be in the public interest?
Yes, typically if there is a release post 18 in a long sentence in a high profile case it is overridden. Possibly releasing it was best interest to stop the gossip.
Correct, but you’d argue when there’s rioting on the streets and uproar for days after brutally murdering 3 schoolgirls thats in the public interest surely whether he’s white, black, blue or orange. Needs lynching
Have you considered that not addressing some of these concerns (don't ask, you're not an idiot) directly is what is creating the pressure cooker environment like we've seen? Concede a little, make a few concessions, it might go a long way. Maybe then you'll see it's not a mischievous vibe shift at all, but actually an attempt to engage people in problem solving.
Would seem that's why he's been named now- to prevent certain groups from being targeted in retaliation.
Bore off. You have an agenda against outsiders and I don’t agree with it so no. That post you posted was to try and imply I don’t care about them girls and it’s out of order so do one. The reality is, you get the help right at the earliest point for troubled people and there are less vulnerable victims, better consequences. There’s plenty of evidence. People with a bias decide other ways that don’t even work. That helps no potential victims. I want this horrible **** to happen as little as possible. It’s really as simple as that but doesn’t meet your ‘anti liberal’ or ‘be the biggest ****er’ or whatever it is agenda.
You know what, it's not immigrants fault or muslims or whatever, it's people like you that have facilitated the problem, you and your ilk are squarely to blame for all of this ****. You're on the wrong side of history and always have been.
Slut you need some Adult Justice, you need support, guidance, supervision and the right kind of control and discipline to control your anger.
