I know we all think that we don't care if we finish 2nd, as long as we go up, but I don't feel that way. Everyone talks about the Prem as being a major trophy, so why not the Championship? You can only win the league you play in, so if we win this league it's a trophy as far as I'm concerned. I'd be a bit done if we finished second now, TBH
While 2nd place wouldn't be failure it would be a disappointment as we are so far ahead and by far the best team in the league. I can't see us letting up now
We may have reached the point where we can actually afford to crumble. ;-) Well, maybe a couple more wins.
Don't think that's quite accurate Ragtime ... I think we'd all be a little bothered not to finish top from here ... but the priority is to go up... if that happened in second place it would still be a wonderfully successful season i.e the difference between going to Old Trafford, Anfield etc next year rather than Bloomfield, or Loftus Road (OK I'll admit to having a little fun with that last one ) ... ... but nothing is sealed yet and mathematically we could still end up in the play-offs - would be a strech to finish outside of those, given that we have already accumulated more points this season than the teams that finished 6th and 5th last, and that 2 more wins would give us more points than Hull finished with in second last season ... ... we just need to keep everything going and the pieces should fall in place ... we've broken a few records (laid a few ghosts to rest) already this season and I see no reason why we can't be the first team to win at Burnley ... they will have to come out and at us which will suit our speed merchants very well ... same goes for the games at Wigan and Reading where both will need the points ... Enjoy the ride buddy - things in football don't get much better than the run we've been on ...
Confidence will be better next season with the winners title, although im sure that 2nd won't take too much wind out of the sails.
Funny thing is football is like torture. You put yourself through hell most of the time But we need to remember this has been a season we could only have dreamed of. So lets try and enjoy it And Queenie mind the gap
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...y-striker-jamie-vardy-delighted-with-his-form nice read this - we are lucky to have shakey
This season has so far been way beyond any of our wildest dreams after how last season finished at Vicarage Road. Before a ball was kicked, if we had been offered a place in the play offs, I think most of us would have snapped the proverbial hand off, but to be top of the pile in March, a massive 13 points ahead of 3rd place and playing the kind of attractive attacking football that is a pleasure to watch is truly wonderful. I have stated on numerous occasions that Id happily take 2nd place come the end of the season, however the closer we get to the finish line, the more greedy I become and have to admit it would be the icing on the cake to win the title and go up as Champions!!!! 13 matches unbeaten. 35 points from 39 is remarkable just a few more wins and we are there boys. We are bloody well there. Will be incredible when it is finally confirmed and let the celebrations begin. Ooops getting ahead of myself a little, lets win those 4-5 games first!!!
morning Miami, you are all but up. if you do go up surely you'd want to do it a Champions. the confidence boost and positiviy around the club will just "boom" Be carefull though..dont do what many of our idiots did and become arrogant about it....it really will bite you. Fair play to you, you deserve to go up
Cheers pal. Yes it would be lovely to finish the job as champions. I agree with you about the confidence factor. Usually a team that gets promoted has that "feel good factor" going into the following season and winning can become a habit I dont think City fans will be arrogant as we appreciate what a tough job we will have on our hands to stay up but we will sure enjoy the ride What about your honest expectations now for your boys? If you can find some form you could peak at the perfect time for the play offs but my concern is where your goals will come from? Any chance Austin will be back for the play offs?
Miami stop getting ahead of yourself QPR still might not make the play offs. Other teams could get lucky
play off is realistically the best we can hope for now. mixed opinions on what would happen if we won. we'd have to buy a whole new team almost Would prob be a blessing if we didnt go up, but so much of the clubs finance and development is geared around promotion. we've got ourselves into a tight spot i think. Still, then again we could still theoratically win the league
I heard that the loans of Remy and Taarabt will finish before the playoffs start... Which could be quite fortunate for them!!
They do but those players wont be eliegable for the play offs. I believe that only players listed at the end of the 2nd transfer window are able to do the play offs. i could be wrong but that as explained to us on our board. You'l never see Remy or Adel in hoops again ,
I'm not sure where you finish has much impact on how well you will do next season, to be honest. Cardiff won this last year, and it doesn't seem to have helped them much... May just be my mind playing tricks on me, but I'm sure the teams promoted through the playoffs have a pretty good recent record. Blackpool (first season anyway) and Swansea spring to mind... Though this is based on no actual research, I could be wrong!
Queenie is right. Remy and Taarabt can't play because of the reason given Jermaine Beckford and Neil Danns couldn't play for us last season in the play offs either. Not like we would have wanted them to though
