I can find disagree with most of that, Fosse. But Sky has a point, banning the guy is a bit like taking a sledgehammer to a nut.

In my view, all that was necessary was to remove the thread, and send the guy a P.M. Explaining why and warning him about any repeats of that kind of post.

There was no need to castigate the guy in public, and then ban him. It should have been handled with a bit more subtlety.

I have some sympathy with your view NSIS ... but the thread had been reported (I have no idea of by whom) and so a Supermod had to investigate and act upon the reporting accordingly / as appropriate ...

.... but HIAG wouldn't / couldn't let it go and, in the event, taunted the Supermod into banning him ...he has trodden a fine line on similar issues previously yet, bizarrely, has demanded bans for other posters for things that are completely innocuous in comparison .. if Resurgam hadn't granted his wish you and I both know that HIAG would have kept on spitralling the issue ad nauseum because his 'fun' had been curtailed ...

.... he'll no doubt do it on his return mind <laugh>

Got no problem with the man...I questioned the rule. If something is offensive, then it is offensive anywhere on Not606. If it grinds a gear with a mod, it would grind it anywhere. Regardless of whether the board in question has a mod or not. Just means the mod isn't doing his job right. I'm not questioning the ban.

On that bit I don't pretend to understand ... I suspect the difference is that the Prem board could be visited by anybody wanting to read posts on football whereas GC is set up primarily for the dernged and you venture there at your own risk <laugh>

Anyway, HIAG's ban will cause him to be bitching like a right Tart when he comes back, so it's worth the ban for that alone :)

I see there's been a few tears shed by HIAB's cheerleaders because he's banned for a day <rofl> You lot don't half get precious.

Nothing precious about it,pal.

As Sky was pointing out, there's far worse goes on on the GC board, and not a word is said.

Just seems like a small case of double standards to the layman poster.

One of the first things my Mother taught me was "Two wrongs do not make a right".

I can't believe grown men and women are getting pissy because their mate got a day's ban for being a tart.

Chill out, surely you have more urgent things to be worrying about?

I probably do, somewhere.

But, if I think something is wrong, I'm gonna say so!..

It's not a question of two wrongs, but of double standards. Why is that kind of behaviour permissible on one part of the forum only? Why is it apparently sacrosanct and free to do and say pretty much whatever it likes?

Hiag's WUM attempts are as subtle as using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

the real problem is that Hiag thinks he is above being banned (despite his pleading to brb to get everyone else banned) as he thinks everything he posts is teflon coated because of all the sycophantic likes he gets from fellow Spurs fans and from his other known account of Saintsfan08.

I provided my thoughts on that earlier ... and whilst I think you have a point ... so does AKCJ ... we shouldn't be excusing HIAG's distateful postings on the grounds that it might not have got the thread closed or him a ban if he had done it on the GC board <ok>

It's double standards whichever way you look at it.
Yes, it was distasteful, as I've said. I just think it could have been handled differently.

It doesn't work like that with me. If I like a post it's because I liked the content. That applies to Hiag as with anyone else. If I think he's out of order, I'll say so too.

I don't agree with anybody trying to get anybody banned. You can complain, if you feel strongly enough. But that's all.

I think there's poetic justice in HIAG getting banned by a supermod, after calling for a supermod to ban everybody else. :)

Who's getting pissy?

Everyone agreed with the mods decision

Fackin cabbage.

I don't disagree with your sentiments - I like it that this board is un-moderated (lightly moderated) - but what you have to keep in mind is the viability / vulnerability of the site as a whole.

At one point Google and, I suspect, other search engines, had the site denoted as 'not recommended' which made it almost impossible to access (especially from work computers - due to 'firewall' issues). Whilst I can't remember all the detail, my recollection is that Mick, the site owner, came to 'an agreement' with the search engines etc that we would clean up the site - rather 'specialist' sub-boards like one on the Newcastle board and also one on GC had their content 'sanitised' - this convinced the search engines etc to take us off their 'stop' list. I recall that Mick managed to agree a certain content leniency concession for the main GC board (not absolute I might add) - and Jip is there to ensure it doesn't go beyond the parameters agreed.

What the Supermods have to guard against is any articles / posts that might, potentially, bring legal action against the site. HIAG, as a lawyer, (<whistle>) should have been more than aware that starting a thread with a title like the one he attempted might, potentially, create such a problem. The Supermod had no choice really other than to delete / close the thread. HIAG throwing a tantrum about him doing that, rather than thinking about issues beyond his fragile ego, is rather typical of him, in fairness.

I get that.

Have you read the GC board? Basically means what Micks intentions (I don't blame him) and what you've just said is total nonsense.

These 'supermods' are so 2 faced if they let those idiots get away with stuff (blatant racism, child abuse jokes, you name it they post it. Usually the minute I post they say something like '**** the 96') then come down here giving us grief, for let's be honest - a slightly unruly comment.

I'm not fussed who made the comment and all that rubbish, it's the fact we were offered an un-modded board way back when, and some power hungry idiot comes along with the ban hammer. Why's this idiot not going at the GC board?

This is the Premier League board. If you want an board where you can supposedly say what you like then go ahead and use GC.

HIAB was out of order, he was warned and then he talked himself into a ban. Why would that bother you? He chatted **** and he got banned.
