I agree - he let himself down a bit in the way he attempted to engineer a move but what he acheived at this club verges on the unbeleivable

We as fans get too emotionally attached because of our love for the club - we also credit footballers as being brighter than many of them actually are

For me, Riyad Mahrez has the mentality of a gifted but somewhat petulant adolescent

Let's not forget - he grew up in a very deprived French suburb, is not well educated and his only redemption from what might have been a very ordinary or even deprived existence was his natural gift as a footballer ...

First and foremost he is trying to get the best living / outcome for hmself and his family from the job he does - fair play to him - at least he has left us after actually acheiving something ... something that we will never forget <ok>

This is the way of the world - while he played for us he was great, when he leaves then he is ****.

Is notable that the only players that we can say is as good or better then him are from the 60s/70s - wonder if anyone can argue that he isn't our best player in the last 40 years?

Either way without him we wouldn't have this image:

So long and thanks for all the fish.

We were very fortunate that we had the pleasure of that season where probably the 3 best players in that timeframe and 3 of our greatest ever came together at once. Mahrez the most technically gifted, Kante the most important arguably and the engine of the team and Vardy who Id say is the most iconic, beat finisher I’ve seen for us and talisman. It wouldn’t have happened without all of them. It will be a sad day when Vardy goes and all 3 are in the past

    Statement from Mahrez
    To all Leicester fans,

We have made some amazing memories and history together. Winning the premiership against all odds was just something else and none of this would have been possible without your extraordinary support for me and the team. I want to thank all of you
for welcoming me to the club right from the start and continuing to give me the belief and encouragement to achieve what we have together. I would also like to thank my teammates, staff and everyone at the club who have become a big part of my life in the last few years.
Now it’s time for me to move on and try to build on what I have developed here, but I will always remember my time at the club with great joy and pride. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I think Vardy will be here for years to come. He will either end his career here or just have a retirement move

Vardy has broken numerous club and league records. He can break many more before he leaves here

USA will probably be his destination if he wants to go abroad. I’m sure his Mrs would be enjoy the LA lifestyle if he went there

No sour grapes what so ever

He is a legend here and imo best ever player to play for us

Comment was purely tongue in cheek and I actually wish Mahrez all the best at Man City and I do think he will do well

He was part of the team that give you the best days in your entire history. Surely every single player and backroom staff member from that time gets a free pass and well wishes to do whatever they like going into the future?

Yeah to a degree but then they need to be careful aswell on how the leave. Mahrez refusing to play and train and sitting in airports wanting to leave didnt help

Just like Drinkwater refusing to play didnt help him

At the end of the day when we won the league we all knew Mahrez and Kante would eventually go onto others clubs. We wanted them to give us 1 more year to see how far that team could go

    Mahrez did but Kante didnt

Why do the club seem so stuck as to a Mahrez replacement. He could have left a year ago and we have known since Jan he will leave without doubt this window

Thats a very long time to scout replacements. So why now do we not have one sorted?

Our problem this window is we have only shown ambition in keeping players and not bringing them in

We started really quickly with Periera, Evans and Maddison and stalled just bringing in a back up keeper

We have lost both Huth and Dragovic and brought in Evans (who is injured) so we are struggling at the back

We are struggling to shift midfielders with 2 always injured and both injured again in James and Mendy

And nowhere will go near Slimani what so ever. We should just cut our losses completely and sell for about £10M if we have to

If we're playing with wing backs I imagine Periera will probably be expected to fill this void. If we play 4-4-2 then Gray, Diabate or maybe Maddison will play there. The fact that the inevitability of mahrez leaving has been on us for about 18 months you would think that potential replacements must have been discussed, or the formation change will mean we don't necessarily need a like for like player. I'm hoping Maddison will play behind two strikers in a 5-3-2 formation, I reckon he could be a revelation, that's him cursed now!

Tbf at the start of the window we strengthened the 3 positions we needed to, I know we knew Mahrez would leave but if he didn’t, with the signings we made that would have been an excellent first 11. The lack of movement on a replacement is worrying though, that is the one position that needs filling. After that it would be improving the squad. Centre back still looks worrying if Maguire and/or Evans aren’t available.
Oh what could have been if we’d still had Mahrez but with a genuine attacking RB backing him up, a genuine number 10 on his inside and Silva if he finds his form pinging balls from the middle....

Same reason why we only had 1 RB for 2 years - we seem surprised that other teams want to keep their players too.

I dont have a problem with Demarai Gray replacing Mahrez but we need to sign another quality winger to give us options.

Gray, Albrighton and Diabate isnt enough
