It wouldn't take a massive amount for either of us to push for Europe. I won't be mocking their lofty ambitions until the windows closed, they, like us, are in a pack of teams for whom 2 or 3 signings could make a huge impact.
Well come on. Let's say these much mentioned targets DO come through (even though it's unrealistic that they all will). Cabaye (in the bag already), Gervinho and Gameiro. They're three top, TOP European players who, along with Ben Arfa, could spearhead a very strong attack indeed which is packed with creativity and technique. Couple that with players like Tiote, and defenders like Colo, and it would be a far, far stronger side than we've had this season just gone. It's all hypothetical of course, but quite exciting stuff.
To be fair mate, you need to put the word 'potentially' before the 3. I can't see Gameiro doing well in the Premier, although i think he'll be magnificent in Spain. Cabaye i do like and think he'll be a very good signing. Gervinho? A little bit of the Djibril Cisse's about him, unquestionably. That said, i'd take all 3 of them for sure.
Gervinho as in the same one repeatedly linked with Arsenal and Liverpool? Righty-ho. Sure. We are also linked with Gameiro, and our chairman isn't as tight with the cash as yours.
I'm not going to sit here and say that I won't get excited because they MIGHT be ****. Who the hell does that? As I said, it's all hypothetical, and it's what we're basing our ambitions on IF the players come through and IF they play as well as we hope. That's all it is.
Thank you for your family album photo, i see you even supplied your surname on your forehead, its not often we get to put a skunks comment to a face thanks ****, suggest you try a diet though marra.
I don't get how it's unreasonable we should be pushing for Europe with a few quality signings, therefore I think your thread is ****e, as usual, and you are a clown
this thread sort of sums it up for me why we should both stop looking at the bubble that is north east football and maybe we should try and be the best in England not just the best in our back yard.nothing wrong with targeting Europe and you should be doing the same if we (meaning you and us) can't raise the bar and hope to finish above/or give them a good run for their money teams like the spuds/bin dippers/villa et all next season/seasons to come then we might as well just give up and concentrate on being the billy big bollox of the north east. personally i think we'll finish 9th with the squad we have now higher when we strengthen
You may have doled out the occasional beating -us, Villa, Arsenal comeback etc, we have also had our share of very good results, most notably Chelsea. We weren't great at the end of last season, but you finished the season even more poorly. We have both been quite unpredictable -I agree, lets both aim high ...but this "next season we will ..." mentality from some Newcastle fans seems to go against the grain, second season teams are vulnerable, never heard that?
You're making it seem as if, regardless of who you buy or sell, a team's second season back in the Premiership is destined to be disastrous.
No other team has ever been promoted as comfortably as us AND came up with such a strong team already in place. Ever. Coloccini, Enrique, Barton, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Harper, Jonas, Nolan and Carroll are all EPL quality players who we had at the start of the season. Minus Carroll and possibly Enrique, we're now building on this platform with an extra £25mill worth of players. Second season syndrome? Not a chance in hell. We're an EPL quality side from top to bottom - something a lot of 'second season syndrome' sufferers never were.
A lot of the thick skunks think that because they have been associated with a couple of well known players, that they must be one of the world's most attractive clubs to play for. They have surely got the biggest percentage of deluded fans in the whole of the football world.
