Back then £50million or so was probably enough to run a premiership football club, but by 2000 you needed a minimum of £500 million. It's one of Murray's mistakes that he didn't try to get more investors involved by then, which probably contributed to our problems in the early to mid 2000s until he sold us. Still a million times the chairman or owner Hall or Shepherd was!
You can tell that I'm at a lose end today. I've been wondering just who this consortium is. A trawl shows it might be a limited company, registered offices in London, (at the time of incorporation at least). One Director is shown as Mr Keith Eric Patterson and a Mr Gordon Bowman Stein is shown as being ----Individual person with significant control / Ownership of shares 75 to 100 percent|voting rights 75 to 100 percent|right to appoint and remove directors. Now this relates to the Limited Company, --NEWCASTLE CONSORTIUM SUPPORTERS LTD (12825615) . BUT, if they are not the same entity, one of them should change their name. It SEEMS from the 'tweets', or whatever they are, (I don't understand thses things), that this consortium expects to share control of the Club with the new owners. It seems pertinent to ask, just how much they are prepared to invest as a Limited Company, or as individuals, or as a partnership.
Class when Benfica turned them over at the **** tip. They genuinely thought they’d be going through that night
A few years back they were crying their eyes out because whilst they'd spent a lot, their net spend was low. Now they're crying their eyes out because their net spend is high. They wanted Pardew out, but someone in the radio was calling for him to come back the other day. They spat on Sir Bobby, roundly booed him and drove him out. Now they mourn that he's the best manager they've had in decades (aside from relegation King rafa) They need to make their minds up.
What is this guy on about? The government have a global pandemic, social care crisis, biggest post war deficit since the war, NHS under pressure, education system facing unprecedented challenges, constitutional changes post-brexit and geo-political strife with Aghanistan and a resultant re-emboldened Russia and China, not to mention logistics crisis, inflationary pressures and a potential bond market tantrum to look forward to and they think what needs to be looked at is their potential relegation battle? Aye that's what I want government to be putting their minds to at this moment, ****ing clown, unbelieveable! Some folk should spend less time destroying bed sheets and injuring our equine friends and more time reading newspapers
The sensible fans know the crack, despite their frustrations with Ashley. They know they probably need new owners if they want to kick on as hes happy treading water, but its not lost on them that they always sell for the highest prices and buy reasonably well (one actually referenced fan pressure for blowing a fortune on Jurrrlinton, out of character for the club). Its the whoppers that think they're badly done to and its all a big conspiracy to stop them being the champions of the universe, as with most football fans its the whoppers that shout loudest. I'd like to see what their reaction would be to some clubs that have genuinely had a **** time (I'd include ourselves in that post-Allardyce). - Wigan, who were bought as a mid table Championship team but then put into admin an subsequently relegated and would have been last year had they not taken 6 points from us. - Bury, who ceased to exist thanks to a shady owner and have had to start again as a phoenix club - Bolton - well documented financial struggles over the past 5/6 years due to legacy overspending - Portsmouth - similar story to Bolton, sinking from the top flight to the bottom tier - Blackpool, suffered for years with the Oystons, who banned fans for speaking out against them. Also went from the PL to L2. - Charlton, previous owner was dodgy and fans prostested to try and get rid, took a lot longer to finally get rid. - Macclesfield, ended up being ran into £500k debt which folded the club - Coventry, had a spell in L2 and all the ****e with the Ricoh, having to play at Sixfields and St Andrews I could go on and on. The worst the Mags have 'suffered' is a few defeats to us and being relegated twice, then the owner bought significantly to ensure they'd return to the PL at the first attempt both times. Its a massive over-play of the situation and a ridiculous 'woe is me' narrative, whats worse is theres sections of the media that have bought in to it.
There's literally an endless litany of stupidity from the Mags, more than any other group of supporters. I'm not saying that from bias but from the endless tragi-comedic shyte show that rolls on year after year. The horse punching obviously takes top billing but one of my other personal favourites was from a previous embarrassment, the Net Spend Protests! They actually approached the supporters of Brighton to join their quest This is Brighton who almost vanished without trace, who lost their ground and who had to play wherever they could find a pitch ffs. This is the actual response from The MAG - THE INDEPENDENT VOICE OF NEWCASTLE UNITED SINCE 1988 ... ... make sure you have something to catch your jaw as it plummets to the floor Astonishing Brighton fans comments after asked to support Newcastle protests against Mike Ashley "Brighton fans have been asked to show their support to Newcastle supporters protesting against Mike Ashley. If they are heading to today’s match in particular – to join in with the pre-match protests outside the Gallowgate End at 2.15pm. The overwhelming majority of responses from Brighton fans are pretty amazing. Amazing in the sense of just how they haven’t got a clue when it comes to exactly why Newcastle fans are so unhappy. It just shows what a difficult job it is to educate those on the outside, as to just how extreme Ashley’s running of Newcastle United is. Especially when the NUFC owner’s PR people put out so much misinformation to muddy the real issues and truth. Most of these Brighton fans are happy to portray Newcastle supporters as cry babies, who are just frustrated that unrealistic fortunes aren’t being spent on the squad, and that there is some kind of entitlement to be up towards the top of the league. Apart from the odd voice of reason, the comments from Brighton fans show them believing that it is Mike Ashley and Sports Direct that are helping/propping up Newcastle United, not the other way around. Totally missing the fact that since Rafa Benitez arrived at Newcastle United, there has been a net profit of over £40m on transfers in and out. Also missing the fact that Rafa Benitez had to admit he can’t even compete with Brighton and Huddersfield when it comes to player wages and transfer fees. Or what about the fact that since promotion in May 2017, Brighton have a net spend more than £110m higher than Newcastle’s? Mike Ashley renaming St James Park the SD Arena with not a penny paid into the club from SD for that. As we know, the list is endless, but so so difficult to get the message out to neutrals who rely on the likes of Ashley’s mates at Sky Sports for their info on Newcastle United."
But ‘ya divent understand,’ all them things doesn’t matter everything is about them and what they want is more important than anything else. Gonna expose the premier league if they don’t get what they want. Take sandwiches.
Obviously another mag who smokes, eats and injects crack, complaining because you are mid table and £40 mill in the black.
Actually the cabbage one isn’t a bad idea, they will need to pick them themselves though, not many workers at the moment, but the farmers get rid of their cabbages and the mags protest will be a success, win, win
£1.50 come and get your fresh cabbage sandwich, two birds with one stone, just gets better and better
Sandwhiches and a flask ffs! How Geordie lad I cannit beleev wor lass has made us ham again, urrr nurrr!
