Remember when we used to get laughed at for celebrating a win in L1? They don't see the irony at all...

Irony and self awareness are not strong points with that lot. Hypocrisy and self pity are though.

I'm not sure there has ever been a club or team in any sport that behaves with such an astonishing lack of self awareness. It is way off the scale man, almost a parody. Really, really weird.

The Mags are in a unique position in that they can’t protest about anything their owners do, They sold themselves so completely they can only accept everything without complaint or look ungrateful and entitled.

If the Saudis decide to leave SJP which they don’t own, and build a new ‘Super Stadium’ at Blaydon, the Mags can hardly complain when it would cost a fortune and be sold to them as their glorious future. The ticket price will shoot up but, once again, they won’t dare complain.

But when the Saudis sell up they’ll be left with an out of town stadium they’ll struggle to fill, an owner with less money and most likely a pile of debt to manage …

… they could become the next Man Utd, which is nice <laugh>

I can see the stadium situation rolling on for years by which time the Saudis are bored of it all and sell up

I think I've mentioned it before but I have a Mag relative on the council at Newcastle. They've said NUFC have alternately tried to sell the stadium to the city, build on the Town Moor or Leazes Park and asked the council to fund renovations to SJP 'for the good of the region' <doh>

They've also explored land on the Scotswood Road, Blaydon and near Gosforth Park apparently.

But you're right, nothing 'concrete' if you'll excuse the pun and probably never will be. SJP needs serious work, which has been delayed and delayed, but renovations would necessitate closure of an entire side. It will all come to a head one day and something will have to be done.

In the meantime they'll just have to pretend the stadium in a jewel in their crown.

    Roll on that day mate.

I've worked in London in construction for the bulk of the last 25 years and lads I know have done some structural assessments on the Landfill and the Mags are going to have issues to resolve sooner rather than later.

Surely any manager worth his salt would be asking them how they feel they can be so cocky , so quick to forget how poor they’ve been for multiple games

I’ve been told he’s trying to engineer a pay off without appearing too incompetent …

… I hope he stays personally.

I can't wait for it to all blow up in their faces, hopefully not too long now as the saudis don't seem to be interested in them as much as the skunks like to think they are. A free fall off the scale is in store for them and when it does come we'll see then what their support is like in the lower leagues.

A disinterested, but very knowledgeable on the matter observer, told me some time ago that two sides of the hotch potch have concrete cancer. No timeframe can be given for when the problem becomes unbearable, but it cannot be cured. Exploding concrete is another term for this, which occurs when the concrete is incorrectly poured, or the reinforcing is not in the correct state or put in incorrectly . Basically too much rust in the rebar, and it's getting bigger all the time.

He has no interest in football whatsoever, but he'll know this, and those few details are a bit of what he tried to explain to me.
