Its a thing a beauty. Not sure youd find it on- line. Last time i saw it was at that shop down the metro centre that sells loads of sports memorabilia crap and local history stuff.

Well. At least they seem to have fixed the internet problem which has been happening at Newcastle over the last few weeks!

Yeah, the facebook '' I love football me'' poster put it on after the chelsea game, which was sandwiched in between Bournemouth, Everton, Spurs when the invisibility cloak must have come out.

All this talk about Geordies. Folk do realise we’ve got them in our team. Riggy, Dan Neil, Patto. That’s just off the top of my head.

    Is that right?

As far as I know Anthony Patterson has North Shields on his birth certificate but is from a family of Ashington Mackems and was schooled in Sunderland?

The other two are from south of the Tyne, so I will contest their Geordieness. Geordie is an affliction and not a badge of honour, Sunderland lads from south of the Tyne will hopefully realise that.

Being a Geordie has absolutely nothing to do with the team you support.

I’m from Jarrow. I’m a proud Geordie. I don’t see why that needs to be related to football.

You think Chris Rigg would ever say he’s a Mackem? <laugh>

It's an identity associated with a geographical area, one that isn't even defined well. People should consider eschewing it.

People from Newcastle will say differently.

Either way Mackems will continue to have disdain for Geordies, pointing out we have players that some consider Geordies will only make us like those players less, not the affect you think it will.

Correct. A "Geordie" is born on the banks of the River Tyne. Gordon Armstrong (the footballer, not the mod) was born in Newcastle so a Geordie yet always a Sunderland fan. Craig Russell (Jarrow) the same, Nick Pickering (So. Shields) the same, Dan Neil (Hebburn) the same etc etc etc. People born in Northumberland as it is now are not Geordies as they are nowhere near the river. "Mackem" was and always will be a derogatory term used by shipworkers on Tyneside towards Sunderland born colleagues. John Hall Geordie Nayshun ****e. If you are a Sunderland fan it doesn't matter where you were born and I would hazard a guess that more than half of our fanbase are not from Sunderland itself.

I’m not sure what affect you believe I’m thinking it will have?

That’s really sad that you would start to think less of the likes of Neil and Riggy when they’ve committed so many years to the club.

You do know there’s thousands of Geordies at the SOL every home game supporting Sunderland, don’t you?

    I'd rather have 20,000 Mackems.
