The Mags have always yearned to be admired and respected for their support hence wanting to be seen as everyone's second club, the Entertainers, etc ... ... they're now just arrogant and getting on everyone's nerves. To think they always hated Chelsea and Abramovich for buying success
I've said quite a few times I would much prefer to be in our shoes than theirs, that's not sour grapes or jealousy it's completely true, it is so exciting watching what we are building at the club, seeing some of the most entertaining football I've witnessed at Sunderland
The implication from Howe us that if only it had been on a yellow, they were vang in the game. They were two nil down ffs! And against a team, for all their recent average form, are brilliant on the break
Seeing Lineker begging for Pope to be allowed to play in the final was truly pathetic ... ... if he'd only been given a yellow, and Newcastle had won, Liverpool would've been cheated. If the rules no longer apply the game is done and finished.
Hardly surprising, Smug. He's been right up Shearer's arse since he started as a pundit for them. Can't upset Alan, can we??? Saying that, the BBC has been mag apologists for years before he turned up. Mark Lawrenson worked for them in the 90s, so no bias there. Hansen is mates with Dalgleish and wouldn't criticise them when he managed them and only turned on them a bit when Dalgleish was sacked. Totally pathetic, really.
This is pretty much it for me too. Anything they win is bought, not earned in my mind. It just makes it all trivial. There's no glory, there's no community. It's a state buying wins to make themselves look more respectable. Some of my mag acquaintances are trying to massively play it down... "Our best performers are Joelinton and Almiron who we had before the takeover" etc. it's mad the mental gymnastics people will go through to pretend nothing untoward has happened. It's worse than those who straight up endorse it in my view.
It's the difference between carefully cultivating a meaningful relationship with a pretty girl ... ... and going out with the world's most beautiful prostitute.
The chat on that Facebook thread is just classic Mags rewriting history or saying well ya arl jealous or hypocrites as you use Saudi products no real admission of what the Saudis are or how they went about it. Just be honest - hard for them - you chased and celebrated the blood money and proud!
I was just trying to find a clip of Spurs being chased out of the Roker End, onto the pitch, and this came up from a Villa supporter ... ... "I can remember them bringing 300 to Villa park one season and going to Newcastle and playing in front of 15000. Never understood the whole Toon Army hype myself."
This is it....they seem to forget pre keegan crowds were down to 12k...football as a whole was down...they forget it was the same for them...ive mayes who are mags...they packed in post keegan as wernt going to win things....then all want tickets now...i have asked...without reply if they took up big mikes free season tickets....meanwhile most of my mates who are lads fans have enjoyed L1 & us heading back up.....which is the dedicated passionate loyal support????? hhhmmm
If Newcastle appeal Pope the Dopes card could he potentially play and then get a 2 game ban for the Prem games? I think they will go out of the way here to bend the rules. Jug lugs needs to fk off just cos he's mates with Shearer.
https://amp.theguardian.com/footbal...t-deserve-to-miss-wembley-final-for-newcastle Howe thinks it "Harsh" Pope was sent off. I mean he has a point, handball 27 yards outside of the box preventing Mo from scoring? Never a red like.
They'll be looking at all eventualities. I'm pretty sure the appeal process is for what could be deemed a dubious decision, not a blatant for all to see hand ball. I could be wrong, but if they appeal something so obvious, the FA could give Pope an extra game "Are you taking the piss" Tax ban.
Presumably it was 'harsh' because Liverpool were already 2-0 up and the game already seen as lost. If it was 0-0, in the last minute, I expect Howe might think it was just a little less harsh.
