Despite all available proof they really believe they're a massive club ... ... despite two recent relegations and no major trophy since 1955. It's delusional on a scale the PM would struggle to match.
We're both massively supported clubs that have under achieved in recent history. I used to have a slight affection for nufc. Rivals but not wanting them to fail, just do worse than us It all changed probably around Sheppard hall time and they became delusional wànkas.
They're becoming their own worst enemies tbh. Previously they've been given a bit of leeway and seen as noisy but harmless ... ... but the spotlight is on them more, since the Saudis bought them, and they're bound to show themselves up.
Oh dear Eden Hazard 'SNUBS a move to Newcastle after Real Madrid accept £33.4m offer for the Belgian', with former Chelsea star 'hoping to attract a bigger club than the mega-rich Magpies' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...Newcastle-Real-Madrid-accept-33-4m-offer.html
Making a bid in excess of £30 million for a player over 30 who's struggled for fitness and form in the last 3 years, looks a pale shadow of what he was previously as well as looking overweight and whose club is pretty keen to get rid of only makes sense if the bidding club hadn't got a clue or a long term plan and is trying to keep fans happy by buying a "name". And getting turned down by said name is embarrassing because it shows throwing money around isn't necessarily going to work if you don't have the structures in place to make the most of it. There's no "vision" to make him believe moving there is going to be a good thing, other than for wages, no challenge and he obviously still thinks he's capable of competing for honours, which the Mags are light years away from
It would be a mental signing. He looks like a bloke who used to be Even Hazard. His brother looked a much better player than him in the Euros. A pure "name for affect" signing. Definitely Not for effect! My dad used to refer to them as " all fur coat and no knickers". Signing Hazard would have had him laughing in his armchair!
That's what's it's all about for them though....a name, It's all they are interested in. It was the same with Benitez, it was only the name they could see. They couldn't see past that to see how ****e he really was. Would like to see them sign a few "big name" mercenary has beens, who are well past their best, on big wages, but don't give a **** anymore.....just seeing them as one last big payday. They really aren't the type of player that is gonna get them out of the ****e they are in.
The fact that they can just hoy 40 million at Madrid for players and it be accepted brings home at what they are going to be capable of in the future.
